Indeed :) I don't think its the most attractive look, so I don't super enjoy wearing it in front of my husband. But he knows why and he never says anything. I would like to learn how to tie them in "cuter" ways though.

Wow I just noticed it's after 11! Time for bed. This is my third very good day in a row :) Yay!

Yeah, I wish headscarves would just suddenly become super fashionable so I could wear them all the time! Haha I live by myself so I just tie them however makes them stay in place and out of my way the best.

3 great days - fantastic!

I got a zero for yesterday :) Yay for bandaids (was out, stressful day). It also probably helped that'd id had 3 low pulling days prior. So now I've had 4 very good days in a row! Woo!

I wish they'd become fashionable too. Actually, what I was wishing the other day is that Trich would become normalised, like nail biting is. So someone might ask "why are you wearing bandaids?" And I could say "I have trich", and then they would say "ohh, k".

Yeah, I'm not sure why nail biting is so normal in society but trich is taboo. Maybe just the number of people affected? Or how long the damage takes to be repaired leading to increased shame? Hair affects appearance more than nails? Maybe trich is more closely associated with other disorders? Many possible reasons, I guess. Ideally, any form of behavioral disorders, mental illnesses, etc. would lose their stigma completely so more people could get help and treatment.

I think the effects on appearance as a result of trich far outweigh the effects of nail biting. Typically, at least. But even nail biting is seen as something that should be able to be controlled. I saw it that way myself, until recently, can you believe it??

Thanks Manda! Another good day today. It's only 6:30 but I"m feeling good about the rest of the night. I pulled 2 hairs not-on-purpose today. And I though that was FANTASTIC as I had my first day of my one-day-a-week job today! I think I can pretty much contribute my success to my success in the past 4 days. It was kind of my plan, to get some pullfree/lite days in before starting this job.

I used to bite my nails quite a lot. I still have parts of skin around my nails where I've killed the nerve endings to the point that I have no feeling in them. The urge is the same as trich, but it is a far easier habit to break. I almost never do it anymore, but if I slip up once every few months due to high stress, it is pretty easy to stop again. So that part is nothing like trich at all. So strange.

Some people do have very serious nail biting though. I don't know how common it is. But it's interesting to hear that for you it was much easier to manage than trich. And thanks!!

Well it's 7pm and I've had another good day. I pulled 2 hairs, one subconsciously and one consciously-ish. I was dealing with annoying business stuff and phonecalls and stupidly didn't have my headscarf on. It's on now and I feel pretty confident I won't pull more tonight.

So in the past 6 days (including today) I've pulled 1 hair, 1 hair, 4 hairs, 0 hairs, 2 hairs, and 2 hairs. Woo!

You are doing really well! That's 6 practically pullfree days :)

Great that you feel confident about the evening, but stay aware of your hands! Often when I feel confident that I won't pull or pick, I'm actually most vulnerable.. But hey, I'm sure I'm preaching to the choir here ;-)

Thanks!! I don't know, there's something about wearing a headscarf that just kills my urges. So I was fine for the rest of the night. When I took it off in bed, I did some forraging though. So I should really buy a nightcap or one I can sleep in.

I have an interview today. Calm blue ocean, calm blue ocean...

A scarf kills my urges too. I often play with the scarf over my hair instead of touching my hair itself. Still sort of trich behavior, I guess, but practiced in a safe way at least! The safety net of knowing that even if I am subconsciously touching my head, I can't do any damage, relieves some stress.

Manda, exactly it's like a safety net. It's great for when you're committed to being pull free but you don't want to focus every single minute of your day on not pulling. You can drop the "constant vigilance" when wearing barriers. And thanks!

The interview did go well. The boss said he'd call me soon to tell me when he wanted me to come in for a trial. And he discussed salary and hours so it sounded pretty promising. We'll see. I don't want to get too excited yet. I got a 2 for yesterday (4 hairs, mainly due to excitement after my interview) so that's now 7 great days in a row! :)
