Beating Trich Community Group
You mean that there is a name for IT? Im not weird? Trichotillomania, that big, long word that is the bane of our world. With knowledge and support of others we CAN break free and live without this disorder interfering with our lives. Lets keep this uplifting and supportive and give each other the encouragement the other needs to make it to that next day.
Thanks j!
48 days pf. Didn't indulge in any trich behaviour (searching for loose hairs) at all yesterday until last night when I couldn't sleep and it was 4am. Bah. Was only for a couple of minutes but boo. I'll keep trying :)
Regardless, trich seems to go in cycles of being really difficult and then out of nowhere, pretty manageable to control. You are doing well and staying committed - just hang on until it starts to feel easier again. It will!!
Understanding what you need and making a daily schedule to do these things will help with the tension that so often plagues us.
Hugs...Be proud of your accomplishments!
Thanks Nabby. A daily schedule sounds good. And thanks, I am proud.
I think I definitely crossed the line this evening, pulling wise. Tomorrow I'll be 49/50 days pf. If I'm pf tomorrow I'm still going to give myself the planned reward in the afternoon/evening. Not beating myself up, just continuing on!
I am having milestone issues, myself. Today is 30, and I want to pull like crazy. Such delicate beasts, are we.
I feel so stupid. I just realised this past week I've been struggling so hard because of PMS! DERP! I seriously cant believe i didnt realise. I think when we are AWARE of what's triggering us we are more likely to resist. And yesterday, when I succumbed, it was not only the first (painful) day of my period, it was an extremely stressful and emotionally draining day. I pulled a few at the end of the day when I was relaxing and still in pain with some wine on the lounge. Trigger, trigger, trigger, trigger, bam, bam, bam!
Feeling much better today. Best not to think of all the crap I need to do, and just do it.
Today is a brand new day, and I realised last night that I have knowledge of how to be pull free yet I use hardly any of my tips. So today I'm going to try them ALL and see what happens! These are my tips btw (you guys must know they're always evolving):
1. Knowledge
2. Acceptance
3. Awareness
4. Replacements, distractions, barriers & surfing
5. Support
6. Staying motivated with goals & rewards
7. Reduce stress
8. Eat well, exercise, get enough sleep
9. Work on emotional self & commitment to self
10. Be positive and persistent about being pf
I know what you and Phoebe mean re: regrowth, but I don't feel that hold true to people who can't regrow sections of their hair. I like to think I'm doing this to function better. By working through my emotions rather than pulling I'm becoming a more whole and healthy person.
Thanks again. Reward.. Um yeah better get around to that!
I'm aiming for 56/56 days pf (8 wks).
Then my next goal is 60/61 days!!
To cool the head, massage the scalp with sesame oil this will lubricate the scalp and surrounding skin and will relieve tension. If you keep the head and body moist the hair will grow. The massage releases tension and increases circulation in the scalp, which is helpful for new growth.
With two teaspoons of oil, start massaging with fingertips at the occiput, the bony ridge at the back of the head above the neck. Massage forward in firm circles and zigzags. Massage your entire scalp, and be gentle rather than vigorous if your scalp is tight.
Urge the scalp to move over the skull, the more you work the scalp, the more it will loosen. You can do the massage for as long and as often as you like.
Barriers...Great ideas....Sound like you are on the right track, keep up the good work. ;)
