Beating Trich Community Group
You mean that there is a name for IT? Im not weird? Trichotillomania, that big, long word that is the bane of our world. With knowledge and support of others we CAN break free and live without this disorder interfering with our lives. Lets keep this uplifting and supportive and give each other the encouragement the other needs to make it to that next day.

Hi, My name is Sam and I'm new to this group. I am 23 and have had trich since I was 12. Over the years I have tried many times to stop, however it's only this past year that I have started to research ways of stopping, and have been really determined to do it. I plan on doing so with a combination of understanding, will-power, exercise, trying the John Kender diet, and seeing a therapist. I love designing, illustrating, cooking, extreme sports, exercising, seeing live music and reading. I would love to provide others with encouragement, and maybe get some support when I fall.

You can do this!!
Haven't yet today, it's midday.
Pf so far today. It's midday. Have got a head scarf on as a wide headband, no touching allowed. I don't want to put my hands up to my head, they are very happy staying down.
It's a new day. Seeing my psychologist. It'll be a rough session. I have to hang onto the fact that life will get better.
Forgive yourself for pulling, but you are so right. The joy of pulling is so fleeting, a "cheap thrill", shebepo used to call it. That is such an easy catch-phrase to remember. I call it up when I really want to go in for the kill.
Try the hand-clasping method. I find the palm-to-palm contact very comforting, and it seems as if the urgey energy flies from hand to hand and back into your whole body.
Thank you Phoebe. You've gone through everything I have and am going through. It's tough for anyone..
I'll try hand clasping. I'm also trying breathing out the urge again. When I get an urge or pull, I gently remind myself to bring my hands down or keep them down, and breathe the urge out.
The journey to be pull free helps me in many ways.
It's so rough making it through those surf ...waves sliding gently towards the shoreline, soothing the head and hands together!
You can do this, you can, you can, you are!
I did much better yesterday. I didn't feel trapped within my own compulsion. Any pulling was isolated (one hair, accidental, loose hair). For me, the meditation-like method of gently reminding myself to put/keep my hand down and breathe just works so well.
But I know I can do it.
I guess I needed to get that out.
