Acute Myelogenous Leukemia (AML) Support Group
Acute myelogenous leukemia (AML), also known as acute myeloid leukemia, is a cancer of the myeloid line of blood cells. Patients with AML usually present with symptoms such as fatigue, bleeding, infection, prompting medical attention. An abnormal blood test reading will then result in further testing in a hospital with a hematologist to determine AML.
We are all out here rooting for Ollie. Let's use this discussion thread to send him our good wishes and prayers. If there are any updates on his condition, we can post them here.

Ollie is now in a hospice & palliative care facility in E. Sandwich on Cape Cod. He is closer to home, but it would be nicer if he be at home.
He is very tired and weak. Your prayers and messages have been wonderful. I have shared each one with Ollie and smiles when I tell him who sends each message.
He is located closer to several of his friends and I hope some of them will come in during the weekend. Wish my news was more encouraging, but he would tell each of you to keep on moving forward. He has had a fulfilling life and has no regrets.
I send each of you lots of love and hugs. You are all in my prayers.

I am glad that you are closer to home. I, too, was hoping that you could go home, but closer is better than farther. Anything to bring you geographically closer to friends and family is good.
As I already know that you are reflecting on your fulfilling life (because you are, after all, the king of philosophy), it is more than incredible to think of your continued inspiration to so many on this site. To think that you can touch so many lives each day, when you never meet face to face, is more than amazing. It speaks to you, Ollie, and your dedciation and caring and advocacy for all of us with AML.
You are always of beacon of encouragement and hope and grace and love. We feel your light shining on us. Feel our love in return. It is being sent by so many people from all over the world every single day.

I enjoy reading this thread because it is uplifting to sense your courage and positive attitude and the high regard and support so many of us have for you. In such an atmosphere, I apologize for this request for information about your treatments.
Have you used any alternative treatments, such as that used by Heather's Dad, and, if so, what has it been and how do you evaluate its effect?

My prayers and thoughts are with you, I am so glad Ollie is closer to home. Ollie, I am so thankful I have found this forum. It has helped me face my battle with AML and look it right in the eye. It is because of you and others that have been so honest and frank. Yes, each day is a gift and through your sharing and insights you have helped me face each bend in the road with courage and grace. Wish I was there to give you a hug and read one of your favorite books or passages to you. Rest well with those that love you and know that you are surrounded by love from those you have touched through your wisdom, humor, insight, and honesty.

Glad you can be closer to home, but wish you could be home. Could they do hospice in your house? That's what my grandmother just did, so that she could be home. Ollie, you amaze me. Your courage astounds me and your strength. I know in just the little while I have known you, that you have touched my life and helped me through one of the toughest fights I have ever encountered. I can't imagine what a blessing you have been to those who have known you forever. Ollie, I am so glad that we had the chance to meet when we did. Wanted to come see you, but alas, I had bronchitis and now have some sort of virus that causes fevers. Don't want to get you sick at all. So I am so grateful that you were out this way. You are as amazing in person as you are online. And meeting Sally was an extra blessing. I loved seeing the two of you together. Lean on one another during this time. Ollie know that you have and continue to help so many people. Keep strong. Love you.
