Acute Myelogenous Leukemia (AML) Support Group
Acute myelogenous leukemia (AML), also known as acute myeloid leukemia, is a cancer of the myeloid line of blood cells. Patients with AML usually present with symptoms such as fatigue, bleeding, infection, prompting medical attention. An abnormal blood test reading will then result in further testing in a hospital with a hematologist to determine AML.

you dont know me, as im a bit of a newbie
but i have been rooting for you for sometime now.
You ought to feel pretty good about yourself. You have become our go to guy for insperation. You have a knack for how to deal with this that makes us all rest a little easier. This board, and our lives are better with you here. Now kick that SOB out your bed and Get Well My Friend.
Seth
My thoughts and prayers are with you. You are one strong man. I admire your strength and perseverance. Continue the uphill climb. Great to hear you are improving. Be well.
The love, prayers, well wishes, and positive vibes will not stop coming your way as you fight your way from hell (not an once of Disneyland where you've been). Get stronger each day. You never stray from our thoughts.
Therese
P.S. Yes. No talk of death of dying. There is a time and place for that reflection and now is not the time.
Best wiishes for continued recovery.
Jon
Yeah! Good to hear from you. So glad you are getting a little better. And good thing I didn't come. All you needed was bronchitis. Praying for you to feel better for Christmas.
Abby
Alas the peaceful mood was broken with the arrive of my onc team. My last blood shows leukemia has returned. Prognosis poor.
One comment-I know I had my share of thoughts about death and dying. Learned today that something's have different meanings when death is sitting in bed with you.
I will try to keep this post not for myself, rather so other's in the same boat can get some understanding.
Ollie
What can I say? Leukemia sucks! I'm sure the team will come up with a plan.
I'm glad you had a good day and I hope tomorrow is just as good.
I will be thinking and praying for you.
Trish
I was so sad to read your post. What miserable news to hear from your onc team that the leukemia is back. I can't even think of what to say through my tears.
Has a treatment plan been offered? What is the next step?
I wish we could all be there and hold your hand. You mean the world to us and we are here for you in spirit and prayers. Know that I have not given up hope.
With dearest love,
Therese
So sorry to hear about the Leukemia returning. hugs hugs hugs.
I must say....you are quite the fighter, and I know that this wont set you back. Your mental attitude and emotional attitude has driven me to be stronger about this damn cancer. You have helped me embrace the process, and have helped me take the better out of the bad. I am thankful for you. I pray for you! You are a hero in my eyes.
Please be in touch!
I am crushed. Actually that is the wrong word....I am cracked. Words cannot express my emotion. Only tears. But you are a fighter and will do whatever the doctors suggest. I know that. I just found out from my sister that a guy who graduated with me from high school in on his third round of induction treatment for AML, meaning that he failed the first two. She said he is upbeat and hopeful. We have to be. Please never forget the story I told about a patient of mine with testicular cancer who was completely given up on by his doctors and sent to Sloan Kettering for an experimental protocol. All was nearly lost, and yet, he beat it and is now one of the few people in this world who is actually older than I am (I will be 60 next Thursday, so you know what category that puts you in as well). Every day I speak about you with my wife and children. They are worry warts and it doesn't take much to enlist their wholehearted support. Therefore, I will pass the worry baton to them and take up the hope and love baton as my responsibility.
You have given us all so much hope and strength. It is now time for us to take aim at you. Please don't give up! We need your sagacious comments, we need your spirit, and we need someone who actually reads difficult philosophy treatises!
You have my love Ollie, and I am not alone,
Cliff
Im a newbie here, first time you here about me.
I also had death sitting on my bed....so I know what you say about it. Ive been reading the posts and can see how loved you are and how much love you have given. SO... love is life and strengh. Cant say much but you are a real gladiator ! I will be praying for you and the medical team, so God guides all of you to the best choices, plans.... For sure, you are deeply loved. Hang on.
It's easy for me to say, but I will say it anyway. Fear not. There is a plan laid out for all of us and it's one we have no control over. Keep faith and hope. Love as much as you can. You have to look this disease in the eye and fight it with all you have. What awaits for us after this life is paradise, so fear not. You are very loved by your friends, family, and those you have touched here on DS. Head up. Prayers being sent your way. We're rooting for you! xo
