Acute Myelogenous Leukemia (AML) Support Group
Acute myelogenous leukemia (AML), also known as acute myeloid leukemia, is a cancer of the myeloid line of blood cells. Patients with AML usually present with symptoms such as fatigue, bleeding, infection, prompting medical attention. An abnormal blood test reading will then result in further testing in a hospital with a hematologist to determine AML.
My heart is broken for you. This is such a crushing news and a disappointment. I know that treatment options in your case are limited. But you have FLT3 mutation. Did they mentioned anything about targeted experimental therapies like the one Andrea is receiving? Could this treatment offer any hope? You are in my prayer constantly. It is hard to find the words for a situation like this. And probably no words can help much. I just wish you and your family strength.
Tanya
Once again I found myself emotionally numb after reading your post. I don't know what to say. We live in a world full of problems, surprises, joys, worries and many more. I believe you will deal with this reality gracefully with your wisdom, and the love and support you have. Continue praying for you and your family.

I have no idea what to say. It's so shocking and extremely sad to read your post. And yet, even without knowing you in person, there's so much of your tenderness and unique way of seeing life and the world in the little that you wrote.
I am confident you will know what to do next, what are the options and what is your choice. I know you have warmth and support around you, and you know we are here for the journey with you.
Sending you a very big virtual hug,
Abby2
THe email you sent is a testament to how much you care for others and why you are so loved. Please keep us posted on what the course of action is so we can all rally behind you. My Dr. is the one who created the 7+3 protocol and has been doing Leukemia for 50 years. He knows all the trials and I would love to see if he might know of a new one that might be a fit for you. Nonetheless, you are a hero to all of us on this board and my thoughts are with you constantly.
Success is not measured by what you accomplish, but by the opposition you have encountered, and the courage with which you have maintained the struggle against overwhelming odds. - You are a major success.

I have no words, my heart is heavy reading your news, I am so sorry to hear. So glad your lovely Lady is right there with you. You have graciously shared your journey so far and I have gained such insight, hope and courage through your posts, you are quite the thinker. We all are warriors against AML, something I never expected to face. We are not alone, there are so many wonderful people standing beside me in the trenches, and you are mighty! Hugs and prayers to you and your family. Praying for wisdom and guidance as your treatment options are evaluated.
Take Care,
Suzanne
Ps~ It is so frustrating to carefully write something, then loose it. It has happened a lot to me, ARRGH!
Two things I know:
1. YOU never ever give up, and you inspire me beyond words.
2. Amazing data has just been released for those of us FLT3 folks and for those who relapsed post transplant in all age categories
There are multiple trials for AC220 quiztarafib. There is also another study being undertaken for radiation treatment for another bone marrow transplant but you need to be 70 to qualify. An isotope is being used to target radiation directly to the marrow. I offered to volunteer but I was disqualified for age.
My friend and cohort.....you have traveled this road for me, before me, and led me to HOPE that I did not have. I do not live in fantasyland and have said I am not a loser either way, but I fight so as not to disappoint any of you and to provide hope to anyone going through this.
Feel better. Be blessed. May God watch over you . Prayers.
Peace, love and hope always,
Andrea
I hate this disease.Just when you think you have things under control it tests you again and again. That is why AML will always be a part of us.
I hate that you now have to start your fight over again. I wish it wasnt so.I wish that it could have stayed in the background and let you get on with your life.I guess we dont always get what we wish for.
All I can say is gather your strength and your loved ones and get ready to fight.Everyone on this forum is in your corner but you are in the ring leading the fight. Stay strong and focused.
Lisa
WE LOVE YOU!!!!!!! Keep up the fight. Andrea has now become the authority on clinical trials for FLT-3. You still have a way out of this. It's time for the left hook to the glass jaw of AML. Get up there and punch him in his evil face!
Cliff
I know you will be reading messages today. I am doing what I can to channel my energy to you. I have a broadcast to friends and family to channel prayers your way. Through the power and grace of God you will be able to dig deep and battle. Be blessed. Stay strong. Peace, love and hope,
Andrea
What can I say. Just read your news from the oncs. I have one word for you DAMN. I HATE AML. do you hear me screaming. I am so happy that we got to see one another on a really good day. What are the drs. Saying. Did you get my message? Oh and let me know if you are up for a visitor. I don't know what to say. I am so sad that this disease has visited you 3 times. Prayers for you and Sally. Tell Sally to call if you need anything and can't call. You tell those drs. to figure out something or they are going to answer to me. Love to you.
Abby
Have your doctors mentioned Clofarabine?
