  My husband and I have not shared a bedroom for over a year now. It started because he would drink a lot and keep me up with his snoring, leaving me with a few hours a night. He then said he would sleep in the spare bed when he had been drinking. After only a few weeks it had become a nightly occurrence. He has had his own room for just under a year.   My husband and I have been together for the last 14 yrs. He drank a bit when we first met, but so did 90% of the guys in the small city we live in. I noticed the drinking became heavier and heavier. We have 2 children and I worry about the environment they are in. He isnt physical at all and when he's drunk he can make rude remarks, without meaning them, but it is the falling down, passing out by 9 that isnt ok.
