Widows & Widowers Support Group
This community is dedicated to those who have lost a husband, wife, or partner. Anything is open for discussion here, with the hope that we can focus on grief, bereavement, life after loss, and continuing on after a great loss.
It's been 3 1/2 years
I'm from Pennsylvania
I lost my husband of 34 years July 29, 2009 to brain cancer. I thought at the time his type of cancer was rare but after being on DS, found that it was not.
I am still around time to time, reading, not posting but still getting the comfort and support on DS that I've always found. Don't know where I would be without DS. It was this site and the people on it that got me through the worst of the worst. Having others who really knew what I felt still is what brings me back time and time again to DS.
May God bless all of you.
Lost the love of my life Donna on 9-19-2012 due to complications of breast cancer. We were married for 40 years. I found this site soon after her passing and I am blessed to have found it. I am still in shock and sometimes just sit and cry like this morning.
Thanks to all the wonderful people here who understand.
God bless
I am Lucy - 60.
Lost Don June 24, 2012
to Lung Cancer that spread to his liver & bones.
Married 43 years.
I live in Texas.
I lost my husband to CLL leukemia that transformed into an aggressive lymphoma. He died on June 26,2012
We were married 32 years. I had a crush on him when I was 14, we started dating when I was 18. I live in New York State.
It's comforting to come to this site and have people understand what you are feeling. I miss my husband terribly. Reality is really setting in.
Hugs to all
been on this site for apx 1 1/2 years-don't post much but read every day! soooo helpful- live in barnegat,nj-eddie and i built our house and moved here to enjoy the shore-haven't been there since-
Lost Karen after a six year battle with metastatic Breast cancer which spread to her bones.
Just out of Detroit Mi, (yes, it is as dangerous as you're told at times)
Been almost 7 years since she left.
I am here almost everyday but don't always post. Some days there is nothing good to say. I want to be encouraging but just don't have the strength to uplift another soul, tho I really want just as others have me. Other days I want to speak to everybody and say we are getting through this!!! It'll be ok. My name really should be simply complicated.
I lost my wife Marlyse (50) on October 2nd, 2012 very unexpectedly and still don't know what happened to her (autopsy results are not in yet). We were married for 17 years and have been together for 27 years.
I have found great support here on DS and visit daily. It feels good to know that others understand what I'm going through and can offer compassionate advice.
Hugs to all!

Referred here by my daughter not long after and this group has been my salvation. Thank you all for the wonderful work you do here at reassuring us that we are not alone and that there is hope in this "new life".
ohsolost...Terry
My husband Darrell died on Valentine's Day 2012 from various causes but directly due to COPD, with which he struggled for 6 years. (His son, my daughter and I had to make the ultimate decision and the guilt I have over that will never go away. My heart is not wired for logic.)
I live in California.
I discovered this site after 4 months and it was initially my connection to the world. Over time, it has become my run-to place when I need a "fix" for assuring myself that I'm "normal." The sharing of stories of struggles and successes is encouraging and makes me realize that:
1. My husband is dead but I am not
2. As long as I am not deliberately setting out to hurt someone, whatever I do, I need to do for me and not let others control my life
3. I'm a whole heck of a lot stronger than I thought - or every could imagine - I was
4. I have a bunch of love to give and can do so without REPLACING my husband
5. My life has been a series of evolutions of change. In the past, those changes were gradual. This one was sudden and deadly. But, just as before I emerged to become a new "me" for awhile, I shall do so again. The process will be as slow as before - it's just that I'm more aware of it (boy, howdy, am I!)
6. I simply must learn to be more concise when Diana asks for a synopsis, not a dissertation :)
Hugs,
Terry
