Widows & Widowers Support Group
This community is dedicated to those who have lost a husband, wife, or partner. Anything is open for discussion here, with the hope that we can focus on grief, bereavement, life after loss, and continuing on after a great loss.
I lost my dear Bud on 8/8/11 to naso-pharyngeal cancer which we battled for fourteen months before he died. We were married almost awesome years. So I am in years two now, the terrible twos, the year of realization. What more can I say..I still take each day one at a time and try to make the most of it and live by faith. I am not on DS much these days but do check in from time to time. Everyone on DS helped me so much the first year and more. I felt great connection with everyone but needed to step away for awhile. Still working on me and trying. My prayers are with everyone
Richard was dignosed with pancreatic cancer Sept 2011. He had chemo and radiation and was going to go for clinical trial when the Dr told us it was time for Hospice. He came home to his own bed for three nights and then was taken to Hospice where he suffered for 3 days before passing on November 2, 2012 he was 61.. I thought I was prepared as everyone I spoke to and told them he had pancreatic cancer the first words were I am so sorry. Richard and I both thought he would make the 5 year mark. God had other plans. It has been my faith, children, family and friends that have helped some, but the pain will not go away. I just found this site last night and seem to logoff and then come back as I have found it helpful.
Even though I didn't have DS early on in my loss, this group of people have been wonderfully healing for me. I have met many in person and that has been incredible. I'm not on here as often, but I do come to visit and my heart is with you. I continue to walk towards healing with a lot of help from my friends!
I lost my precious wife Rhoda to cholangiocarcinoma (intrahepatic bile duct cancer) on April 1st, 2012. She was first diagnosed on June 13, 2011. We were married for 15 years and together for more than 20. She was my whole world. I miss her every day and sometimes cannot believe she is gone. I live only for the day we are reunited.
I have met many wonderful people here who have helped me in this, the worst possible time of my life.
Thank you all.

I lost my husband 9 days ago to brain cancer. I'm amazed that the first couple of posts I read in this thread were also widows to this same terrible disease. I feel like I've been mourning the loss of my sweetheart for several months, because I really lost him little by little due to the brain tumor.
I am heartbroken and still young enough that my friends (although wonderful) cannot truly understand the kind of grief this is....
love n hugs...

I live in South Carolina and lost my husband of 35 years and 5 days to a massive heart attack, sudden and unexpected on Nov 3, 2012.
So close to the holidays all support groups were just coming to an end so I couldn't find any help and knew no widows at all.
Finding this site has truly been my saving grace.Without everyone here I honestly don't know how I would have gotten this far. I am on this site daily, I post if I think I can help someone but more so I read daily. My thanks to everyone on this site with a special thank you to Sharon, Marsha and Martha for all that you continue to do for everyone here. Hugs to everyone

I am still so new to all this and at times feel as if my life is going on with me watching from the sidelines. I have 2 children, both still at home 18 yrs and 12 yrs.
I'm in California
