I lost my husband Louis on August 30, 2012 after a bout with pneumonia. He wasn't in great health, but his death was still pretty sudden.
We were together for 16 years & I worked from home fr the last six, so we were together every day.
Then, exactly 60 days after he died, Hurricane Sandy hit and I had major damage to my home & am out of business for the foreseeable future.
I have two daughters - a 16 year old who still lives with me (we are in my aunt's spare bedroom right now) and a 19 year old who just went back to college yesterday (miss her to pieces already).
Life is just surreal right now - I don't think I have wrapped my head around anything yet.
I read the discussions when I can & contribute sometimes. It makes me feel better to come here & I am glad to have found it.
hugs back to you all

Lost my Bear my best friend of 37 years to cancer April 9, 2011.

DS was my life line the 1st year, I've meet and talked to so many kind caring wonderful people here. I would encourage meeting with as many folks as you can...several of us have done this at different times and it makes a world of difference.
I'm Kelli and I became a "NEW" member on 12-31-12 @ 1:14 AM when my husband Giovanni (John) passed away....he was 45 and I am 44. We have 4 children Sal (21), Mackenzi (17) who both witnessed him passing in the ER after suffering Cardiac Arrest from a siezure....I was home w/ our lil ones Daniela (6) & Giuliana (5)....he had Liver Disease and recently didn't take care of himself which probably brought on the siezure suddenly and died w/in a few hours!! I live in New Jersey.....I'm born & raised BROOKLYN, he was born, raised & LAID TO REST in Pozzallo Sicily...
I'm in the SF North Bay Area here in CA, I'm 61 yrs old.
I thought I had things bad with my MS until I lost Bob to lung cancer on June 4, 2011. We were together & married a combined 41 years. His loss has kicked my ass like nothing before and I'm figuring nothing will ever be for the rest of my days.
I try really hard to count my blessings: Bob left me with 2 terrific kids (adults now), 3 wonderful wonderful grandkids. I'm not rich, but I'm not destitute either.
My biggest blessing is that I was really loved and was special to this man...and that I loved and treasured him in return.
But even though I try to remember the good things, life is just drab and gray now. I wonder a lot if that will ever change.

I lost my husband while visiiting his Mom in Colorado of a sudden heart attack.
Shortly after I had to face his 2 sons in court who thought they should get everything...I spent the first several months dealing with that instead of being able to mourn ONCE I got a breather I found this sight and feel it was a life saver...
