I walked last night, I'm proud again to say. Today I might go for another walk early before I have to muster up the courage to go to that kidney specialist appointment. There's always a chance I'll be ordered dialysis again, and I already refused it once.
What a great day.
I am so happy to hear you had a good report Muji! It’s great walking without a cane isn’t it? Keep up the great work.
I didn’t get a walk in today,. I was really tired, but I did get through teaching my Tai Chi class which is growing. Another hospital department asked if they could make referrals. I may need to have two classes if my class grows too much.
Hope Rizen's ok, too, as well as Rizen's mom. Me, I was overworked at school by a Zoom meeting they called on a Friday afternoon that dragged into the evening working on a jargon-laden "program review" document. I could have skipped it, but it was my last chance to pipe up and day something for how they could continue my classed come Fall after I retire at the end of this Spring.
Their track record is bad for letting things go. Between my predecessor's retirement and hiring me to replace him 10 years ago they let 4 years lapse. Everything my very dedicated predecessor worked so hard to build up had gone to seed by then and I hard to start over from scratch. I can't control whether they'll do that again after me--likely they will--but I could put in my 2 cents now in that program meeting yesterday, ad much s it exhausted me to be part of hours on end of colleagues trying to impress each other with who spoke more "educatorese" language. I waited through it for hours, but I did finally get my suggestions on how to continue without me into the document so it will flow upwards in our college bureaucracy.
It left me little room to grieve the 1 year anniversary of my friend's death so not being able to come here really hurt. Glad to be here now.
I got a walk in late at night last night anyway, though, and another just now today. They really help my mental health.
Good to hear you walked that much. I got 2 walks in yesterday and without a cane. I've got my walking shoes already on for walking tonight as soon as I log off from DS.
Muji, yes, I love Tai chi and my other art, I think as much as it hurts I have come to the realization that I am going to have to leave some of my other martial art behind. I’m just too disabled with my back, neck, leg paralysis and knee. But I can still teach Tai Chi.
It is hard to withstand meeting where their is so much bureaucracy. It must have felt good to get your two cents in. Your so close now to retirement you must be so excited.
I walked a little over a mile today with my husband and dog. We went to the park so I could see the ducks.
Today was the day I called HR at my college and gave notice of retirement. After the call I felt giddy with a sense of liberation. At the same time, of course, I also felt the weight of the many tasks interacting with bureaucracy before me to take care of getting my income stream going from Social Security and my Teacher’s Pension Fund. It was good, though, to get things in motion for retiring. Getting my appointment for my coronavirus vaccine shot this week meant I could make firm plans for travel to retire to Mexico now. It’s exciting.
I don't know why but yesterday and today I was back on my cane for my walks because I was feeling wobbly, out of balance. That seems to come and go. Glad you got out to walk with your husband and your dog to see the ducks!
How's your mom, Rizen?
I paced around yesterday and the day before and walked 2.1 miles today.
Sorry you had to pace, but it sounds like you got out today. Me, too. I got a walk in at 7:30am this morning before teaching my classes, and I'm hoping to get another walk tonight after work.
