Physical & Emotional Abuse Support Group
Abuse is a general term for the treatment of someone that causes some kind of harm (to the abused person, to the abusers themselves, or to someone else) that is unlawful or wrongful. No one deserves abuse, period. Abuse can be emotional, physical, or sexual.
Thank you Livn!!!!!!!
I also agree with Life that insults guised as "honesty" (or pointing someone's flaws) are tactics some people and abusers use to erode the person's self-esteem (and make themselves feel better).
I just realized I am still in some denial.... thinking my H has gotten much better now I have decided to accept who he is and move on emotionally while still living here. BUT you know what he does and what I have really noticed the past few days and was denying? Just this morning he says to my 16 yr old son who is up at the crack of dawn trying to get off to school. My H says "GOOD MORNING" and if my son mumbles a reply my H will keep saying GOOD MORNING and my son says "I just answered you...Dad, i just said good morning" and my H won't stop...like says it 10 times over. Until he makes my son angry really angry. The other day I told my H when u laugh mockingly and tell our son (after arguing with him over a stupid lil thing) he is teaching u patience and i ask what do u mean and u say cuz he is wrong and i am right.....do you know u make him feel like crap and it is not useful to make someone feel bad about themselves. And my H always says he does not agree and that is just the way I am thinking of it. He always says he is making a joke and lightening him up.....so...now i see I have been in denial...this is abuse! It has always been that bit about how I am so sensitive or just see things the way I want to see them.
Great discussion and glad you posted it as I do look forward to your viewpoint on things. HUGS!
