Morning everyone!

My name is Laura O. and I'm a compulsive liar. I haven't said that in awhile so I thought it important to get back to my roots today as I've been slipping here and there in the last couple months. How's everyone else doing recently? Let's get back to checking in daily, shall we? :)

Yes, Laura I agree. I have SO fallen off the lying wagon. It's so easy to forget what it felt like when I had gotten busted for lies by my husband and was repentant and coming to this site daily for strength. But I got really complacent and the old habits just snuck back in. And then the old familiar feeling of guilt - lying about why I missed a meeting because I didn't want to tell my boss I was going to be out of town. Lying about little stuff. And then finally, engaging in a very flirtatious exchange with a man to whom I am very attracted via text, email and phone and justifying it because nothing physical has happened or will happen. So, yes, I need to be back here and to remind myself daily that my life was BETTER when I had a clear conscience and that I want to live a life of integrity not just get away with what I can get away with it. I have a GREAT life, an amazing husband and child and I think that I have a subconscious desire to muck it all up. I need to be attentive to this compulsion and really believe that I am worthy of the peace and love that's available to me. Ugh.

I'm here and ighting throught the opportunites to lie. Been winning on most of the big lies but the little ones keep slipping through

hi my name is Danny I have lied about all my life from stupid things to big things. I'm trying to turn my life around trying to save my realtionship by doing right by the woman I love I can say honestly she is the best thing that has ever happened to me. I think lying is so immature and selfish. It has become such a habit just not to say the right truth that you try to make things sound better than what they are. I have been honest for 2 days trying to break this curse that I just want it to stop so we can have a better life. this is actually what I need to make my life sain.

Hi. My name is Celeste and I am a liar. I have been completely honest for 24 hours.

Glad you're here Celeste. Hope others will start chiming in too! I am just trying to take things day by day. Now that I am committed -- really committed -- to change, I want to see dramatic results and I want my husband to trust me completely. I want 40 years of dysfunction to be erased by my willingness to change. But I know that this is going to be a gradual road to recovery. I have been more hopeful as I went to my first CODA meeting this week and I got to meet some folks who have been working a 12 step program and heard about the difference it made in their lives. One of them shared my issue with lying, so I was glad to hear that I wasn't alone. I also got some books and want to reclaim a journaling practice. More than anything, I want to remember every day that living honestly is better than hiding, lying, skulking, denying, etc. Sending compassion and support to all who are reading and best wishes for your journeys.

Hi this is Johnny. Been months since I checked in here. Happy to see the thread revived! My status is still. In limbo with my wife but as of right now I'm still in the house with her and my daughters I just don't sleep in the same room with my wife. Don't know how I'm still in the house but I'm still expecting to receive final papers and be asked to leave. However as far as lying I have been "lie free" for months! Success has been achieved by attending al-anon and Celebrate Recovery and both programs have helped tremendously
I encourage all of us to seek out a 12 step program.

No big lies in a really really long time, however I have started telling small embellishment lies again. Especially since I'm in a new workplace environment. It's really easy to slip back into old behaviors again when you're around new people you either feel you need to impress or don't feel like you fit in with. In this case I just don't feel like I fit in, and most of the time I'm okay with that, but others, not so much. I was going to Al-Anon meetings pretty consistently for a short time since I've moved out here to Colorado, but haven't gone in a month I think. Time to jump back on the bandwagon.

Hello Hello - I read recently that the average person lies something like 3 or 4 times in the course of a 10 minute conversation. When I heard that I thought, hey, maybe I'm not so abnormal afterall. But I guess that's like alcoholics seeing people drinking all the time around them and somehow managing to function without negative consequences. I know for me lying even a little is a slippery slope that paves the way for more lies. I have a meeting coming up where I'm either going to have to admit some sloppy work I've done or lie. I'm dreading the meeting and want to be my confident, courageous fully human self. Best wishes for a wonderful day for you all.

Hello, My name is Okini....and I am a LIAR.....whatever type of Liar there is...I am it. I have lied to family, friends and to my wife. I have lost a lot over my lies. I am tired of it. I have a problem. I need to work on this and most of the people around believe that it can work. Others doubt my ability to stop lying. I started lying when my brother was born and continued til this day. My wife has been more than patient with me when it has come to the lying. She has told me and has been hurt by lies I have told. I have told too many to account for. While I say all these things, in my lies.....I always get caught....I am always the one to get caught. Maybe I am not built for it anymore or its just that maybe its time to be my age and be a MAN!
