Liars Anonymous Community Group
A support group to provide those with a compulsive addiction to lie a place to share hope, strength and courage with others like them; solve our common problem and help others with a compulsion to lie. We aren't alone!
Still new here and still trying to complete that day one without a lie. I did great yesterday morning and then blew it when a friend called long distance last night and I lied through my teeth for no apparent reason. I just open my mouth and out they come. The scary thing is, she is my best friend and to lose her respect would kill me so why do I keep lying to her? I can't wait for the 12 steps for LA to be written so I am going to see what I can do with the AA 12 steps. I have never really believed in the 12 step programs before because I tried it for overeating, and there was no success rate in our group as you can't completely abstain from food. But my Dad was in AA and it worked for him and yet he died within days of joining as his body was just to addicted to the alcohol and he did not do it under a doctor's supervision. Still, he had gone for several days without a drink and took time off work to attend several meetings a day. I don't have that luxury here. There are no meetings to the best of my knowledge. Yet I feel I need one. I will continue to work on this site and I hope to make some friends that can share their recovery journey with me.
My name is Laura O and I'm a compulsive liar. Last night I stopped myself from telling an embellishment lie. I wanted to make my boyfriend feel good about himself, but stopped myself short of telling him something that my coworkers hadn't actually said.
Sometimes because I've been in recovery for awhile now, I almost start taking every day for granted and forget that every day I still have to be vigilant against my old lying habits creeping in.
I hope everyone has a day filled with serenity and peace and free of lies!
Laura O.
God bless everyone here in their fight to overcome this disease that destroys their lives and their relationships.
