Hidradenitis Suppurativa Support Group
Hidradenitis suppurativa (hi-drad-uh-NIE-tis sup-yoo-ruh-TIE-vuh) is rare, long-term skin condition that features small, painful lumps under the skin. The disease manifests as clusters of chronic abscesses or boils, sometimes as large as baseballs, that are extremely painful to the touch and may persist for years with occasional to frequent periods of inflammation,...
Really depends on a couple of factors, but generally you should start to see some pretty good results in about 4-8 weeks. It takes some time so be patient. Some have seem results in a few days, while it has take weeks for others. Just remember to be consistent and take it daily
Large amounts of Turmeric can cause gastrointestinal distress...and having a gut ache is really no fun.

Yes taking the Turmeric with food is fine. 1/4 teaspoon is about 300mg and 1/2 teaspoon is about 600mg. I use it with eggs both scrambled and omelets. I also add it to chili con carne, (regular chili).

I can only tell you what others have reported. Yes sometimes it will cause them to become more active but then start to heal up. As far as old lesions, the reports are mixed. Some say it has helped reduce some of the swelling of old scar tissue. Others have not reported that experience. So we really do not know. One of the long known problems with HS is that what works for some does not work for others. I would encourage you to look at the posts here and the posts at http://www.hs-usa.org for others experiences. Also look at the information on the yahoo natural remedies site. There are folks using it who have had good results, others who have not had such good result.
Sadly enough, the medical community has yet to look at Turmeric and HS. Several other institutions have been using it very effectively. See MD Anderson Cancer Institute...Turmeric Trial in cancer therapy.
There are several others out there as well. Please take time to read them. Also take the time to read as many clinical trials as you can find on HS. The more you know, the more informed decisions you can make about your healthcare.
Peace
Rick
One a day of each every day for about 10 days, then depending upon how your body responds.
I take one turmeric and one zinc Mon through Fri and nothing on weekends. It sees to work well for me and helps keep things pretty well under control.

So far, the upside is the various areas of scar tissue seem to have subsided...which is great. I won't know for another couple of weeks if it's actually working. My pattern the last several months has been a breakout every 14-21 days so if I can get through a month...then we might have a winner.
The downside: I took a capsule this morning on an empty stomach and then promptly had a violent vomiting attack. I can't for sure say it was the turmeric, but can't think of anything else that would have made me so sick so quickly. I feel fine now.
Keeping my fingers crossed!
Will be going to buy capsules tomorrow and will come back and report
Be careful with turmeric. In high doses it can cause constipation and stomach problems over time.
Also I once was in the habit of creating my own salves for the boils. Be careful if you put turmeric powder in home made salves...it will dye your skin and clothes yellow!
