When using the Turmeric and Zinc, you have to use it daily and for 10-12 weeks before you will see much of an improvement. Or that seems to be kinda the average for most folks. Also remember that it is a maintenance regime. If you stop taking it, you will definitely flare back up. Also remember that once your HS is manageable (controlled) you can back down on the dosages and frequency so that you can have a maintenance level.
Also remember that Turmeric can cause some stomach trouble, so taking it with food can help!

I can not find turmeric curcumin capsules only can I take it from curcumin
I can not find turmeric I use curcumin
Not really and different. We tell folks who buy the Turmeric to make sure to check the ingredients to make sure that the Turmeric they are buying is 95% Circumin.
SO taking it as straight Circumin is not a big difference. Remember to take it with food to avoid stomach upset

How is the hubby doing? How long was he on the Turmeric and Zinc? He needs to use it daily for at least 10-12 weeks, then see how things are coming along.

Can you give me more details? How much is massive?? How did the "blood thinning" determination get made? Just looking to gather information for future reference. How old is your daughter? Any other conditions along with the HS?
You can PM me for privacy!
Thanks
Rick H.
It is true that Turmeric may have some mild blood thinning properties. However, 2 years ago I had to have my gallbladder removed. My surgeon not to take it the day of surgery, but to resume taking it the day after. I did not experience any problems with bleeding and the surgery went fine. I am also on a blood pressure medication and Turmeric does not to seem to have any conflict with it.
I am only sharing this info because of my surgical experience. I take 500mg of Turmeric every other day. At the time of my surgery I was taking 500mg ever day!

I am headed to the vitamin store tomorrow, will be making a paste of turmeric/zinc oxide to use on the my two current aliens, and will report back on results.
I have to admit that as I first started reading this thread, I was a bit skeptical. I'm in so much pain though, that at this point I'm ready to try anything.
As I have said before, I have read a long time ago that this disease is closely related to Amyloidosis. Amy is a buildup of amyloid proteins.
In researching turmeric benefits this evening (since i can't sleep through this pain), I found in an article, "curcumin was able to reduce deposits of beta-amyloid proteins" and "the compound kept the proteins from aggregating and blocked the formation of the amyloid fibers"
I'm very excited to see how this works! There IS hope!!
Praise the lord and his vast land of vegetation!
I'm generally not a believer in alternative therapy, but was at the point of desperation last night and early this morning.
Got some turmeric (600mg, 95% curcurmin) and mixed that with Desitin (zinc oxide).
Used three capsules, mixed in enough zinc to make a thick paste and slathered it on the 'tennis ball' in my armpit. Covered it with a non-stick pad.
It only took 2 hours before I could feel the familiar wetness of massive draining...and trust me-had I not used this, it would have been another few days of agony before it was ready to burst on it's own. 99% of the goo is gone. It's still draining a little, but I'm confident that by the time I go to bed it will be gone.
I noticed that the pain relieving effects took place within about a 1/2 hour.
I also slathered some on the deep one in my groin, and can feel a bit of wetness, but will let that one work a little more before i peel back the pad. The pain from this one is just about gone as well.
Warning though--turmeric stains! My armpit is yellow, and I proudly wear it.
Hope this works for a bunch of you guys too! I'm ready to cry all over again...tears of hapiness this time!!!
