Found a treatment that works! - Turmeric

Hi, I'm new to this support group. I came here to tell everyone that I used to suffer from HS, including all the "treatments" that didn't work. Antibiotics, draining, surgery, etc. About a year ago I stumbled across a natural food website that said the spice Turmeric cures boils. Well, I consider my HS sores boils so I tried it.

I couldn't believe it. I freaking works. I cyst that I had near my bikini line for over TWO YEARS started draining within four hours. It was totally gone within two weeks.

I still take one turmeric capsule a day to keep the HS under control. If I stop, it comes back. So...this is not a cure, but it is a VERY effective treatment that doesn't require doctors or medications.

Please, please do yourself a favor and just try it! You have nothing to lose - turmeric capsules are sold at Wal-Mart, I think. If not, you can definitely buy them at a health food store. Or, if you still can't find them just bite the bullet and take the powder mixed in water.

I started with two turmeric capsules with breakfast, and two with dinner. You can always just buy the powder, but I found it bitter.

Forgot to mention: the turmeric also works as a blood thinner, so don't take it for two weeks before surgery. Also, it makes you thirsty, so make sure to have water nearby the first couple of weeks that you take it.

Hi, thank you SO much for your advice, I went to a health food store as soon as I read it and bought Curcumin, with 95% extract of Tumeric in 500 mg doses. Do you think this will be as effective or do I need Tumeric in its natural form? And how much do you think I need to take? Thanks....

hi vasandra- i do think that what you have will work. it's exactly what i take. i've heard people say they start with just two capsules a day as to not develop a "tolerance" to the turmeric, so you might want to start with that.

just be patient. it may take up to a month (or two) for the cysts to totally go away, but you should see improvement within the first couple of days. and also know that if you've had a cyst for a long time that it will probably leave a darkened scar, but these do fade in a few years.

i just wanted relief from the pain (and embarrassment). good luck and keep us posted on your progress!

also - the turmeric has cleared-up the acne on my face. i could just keep gushing about how much i love this spice, but everyone would get sick of it. hehe...

Hey, I figured out how to write back! woohoo! Guess what? The turmeric worked! I applied some directly on the site and I could feel it working nearly 10 minutes later. It was amazing! By morning it had drained and was almost perfectly normal. I am SO thankful to you and others who have been so wonderfully kind and helpful.

wow vasandra! i'm so so happy for you! just keep taking the capsules and the boils won't come back. whenever i forget to take my daily dose (1 capsule) for about a week, i start to feel one forming. so stick with it and you should be good!

As soon as I read your post went to Walgreens yesterday and bought the turmeric. I started taking it last night. I just want to let you know that in my Walgreens they are in sale right now, 2 bottles for 9.99. Check yours and get a few since they are in sale.
I will let yopu know how the turmeric curcumin works for me.

This really is an amazing treatment I have been taking it for about a month now and have not had any outbreaks. I missed a day (I didn't take any of my meds that day by accident...that was fun) and got an outbreak. I was so mad, when I started taking it again the next day it cleared up by the end of the day. It was so amazing.

I have tumeric in my kitchen. Should I eat it or use it as a topical treatment? I have an appointment with a dermatologist in about a month, should I ask him/her about this? Have you had any side effects? I have high blood pressure, will the tumeric hurt me? Will it interact with my other meds? Should I continue to use the spice in cooking? Is it possible to overdose? Can I wash my infected areas with it? Sorry, but I tried the tea tree oil cure and it made the outbreaks very angry and itchy and I don't want to go through that again. Imagine your outbreaks itching and burning and trying to be comfortable out in public needing to scratch or soothe yourself on the bus!

You have saved my life.. so far the turmeric has worked well. I had to stopped it because I am gonna get surgery on March 16 (scar revision) but really works...

I went to the store and bought it right away but I don't think it is working. I have not noticed any change and it has been two days. Everyone seems to say it started working right away so I am getting a little discouraged.

I have been taking 665 mg twice a day. Should I increase this?

I was doing a random search on turmeric and came across your posting. I am also in MN (Mpls...hi!)-and have tried turmeric at 500mg, 3 times per day. I have had 3 outbreaks of boils myself (2 being at the same time!), just occuring in the last year alone and have never had this problem before.
I never went to a doctor. Instead, I found the advice about turmeric on the comp and gave it a go since I had no medical insurance at the time. It was a lifesaver/money-saver! I definitely would suggest increasing your dose to at least 500mg, 3 times per day, making your dose a total of 1,500mg per day. I get mine from Wal-Mart and use the capsules, also. They DO work, just have some patience :)

I've been taking Minocycline twice a day, and have seen some results but still have the odd one, I have about another month or so till my prescription runs out, can I take Turmeric with my medication? And if so how many/often daily?

OMG! I bit the bullet and put some of my kitchen tumeric powder on an outbreak that was going to be a problem and it drained almost immediately. Ok, here's what happened: I had a lump that was painful and no telling when it would drain, but it hurt bad. So I remembered that there was talk about tumeric to cure these things and I had already tried warm compresses. So, I grabbed my unopened bottle of tumeric and just spread some to my painful lump and to my surprise, the abscess drained by the time I went to the bathroom at work! It's totally wrong when a boil breaks outside of home, but so totally more comfortable when they break (can I get a high five here?) anyway, I'll keep trying the tumeric!
Oh, I tried it for a lesion that had already drained a bit under my arm and it didn't work. Also, I don't get to see the dermatologist till next month. I'll keep y'all posted

oh i love you, i have had this condition for 10 years and only antibiotics help. im now 24 weeks pregnant and was on antibiotics last week. it did clear up but came back yesterday, i found this earlier today and tried it. im completely amazed it works. about an hour after applying turmeric to area it popped what a relief thank so much.
