Breakups & Divorce Support Group
Just broke up with someone or in the midst of a difficult divorce? Breaking up is difficult no matter what the circumstances are. They say that time heals all wounds, but sometimes a listening ear or a hug can work wonders for the heart. Whether you need a place to vent, someone to hold you to No Contact, or need advice about what to do, we're here to help.

What we have to remember is that people post based on their beliefs, thoughts, opinions and feelings. That their beliefs, thoughts, opinions and feelings may have nothing in common with what another members beliefs, thoughts, opinions and feelings are. That doesn't mean that the person posting is naive or ignorant, nor should they be attacked, ridiculed or called out for what they believe, think or have an opinion about. it just means your opinions, beliefs and what not is different then theirs.
If you don't have the same beliefs, thoughts, feelings or opinions as another member, just stick to talking about what you know, your own beliefs, thoughts, opinions and feelings and leave the snarky attacks to the side.
I don't believe in god either or for that matter; happy vs. unhappy, in love vs. out of love. I only believe in marriage as a commitment.
When you said... I DO. You also said... For better or for worse. Then to go and tell someone about GOD or to have a lame excuse like "not in love"
That's just ridiculous. What's his name? I want to slap him now.
I think she should tell him exactly what I said... marriage is about commitment and supporting each other.
Maybe she should ask him what he thinks marriage is about huh?
people have all sorts of strange concepts of love and commitment. while we are dating, we would do well to ask them to explain them so that we can see if we agree on the fundamentals or not. if we don't, there is no point in trying to pair up with them as a couple.
She believes that a man's job is to bring in the money, dream the dreams, plan the plans, and make everything happen - plus all of the other things like sex, intimacy, etc.
She believes that the woman's job is to be supportive and loving to him in all ways. Specific responsibilities like chores or , if not defined by the man, do not exist. As for employment, that is at her discretion.
Of course, she has veto rights in there all over the place. By having such a subjective belief system that is unarticulated, she has a foolproof belief system where nothing is ever her fault and she has a million reasons to bail out on any man at any time - without the least twinge of guilt.
We all have a right to our own belief system so her's is valid. Unfortunately, she did not tell me up front or along the way what it really was and is.
There is no way to win with people who stack the deck. Or, with people who reserve the right to "fall out of love" and bail out without any real just cause. Their feelings generate their belief systems. Change the feeling, and then rationalize the behavior.
Love and commitment had better be discussed in practical terms or we will lose every time to people with their "creative" belief systems. :)
And brains.
Oh wait, that wasn't the Canadians.
