Beating Trich Community Group
You mean that there is a name for IT? Im not weird? Trichotillomania, that big, long word that is the bane of our world. With knowledge and support of others we CAN break free and live without this disorder interfering with our lives. Lets keep this uplifting and supportive and give each other the encouragement the other needs to make it to that next day.

This is Trish Tolamania from trichworld if you don't know (yes, I wrote the alias trying to be funny).
I had one pull free streak last November/December, the longest one I remember having ever. Checking in with this community was such a huge help, in order to achieve that. In February I started pulling again and, after a few lame attempts to slow it down, I gave up altogether and just started pulling again at will.
Now it's July 1, I am 3 days pull free and I just want to take it DAY BY DAY and get involved in this community again! I hadn't logged in for so long, when I did log in last week, I started crying hysterically. Isn't that funny?
My main goal right now is to reach 7 days pull free, then buy myself some really expensive hair product as a reward. But I know my main reward for stopping will just be FEELING GOOD AND NOT HAVING TO WORRY ABOUT IT SO MUCH!

It was a huge hit with about 200 guests. We got so many compliments on our hard work and the great time they were having. There are so many nice pictures on Facebook with everyone saying they reconnected with old friends. But let me tell you, I am glad it is behind us. We all put a lot into it. We are having a lunch meeting next week, which I am looking forward to. Yesterday was...

My day...today...misplaced my debit card...didn't realize it until I got to the register after shopping to a full cart. Used a different debit card and pulled apart everything looking for missing debit card before I left parking lot. Got home, dropped keys. So now I have a missing debit card, missing keys. I blame the fact that I pulled a few hairs being like "oh, this is ok, I've been so good the past few days," then everything just fell apart.
Looking at grad schools and realizing I have to take the GRE in 1 week and HAVEN'T STUDIED AT ALLL........ NOT GOOD EITHER, NO NO NO NO NO.......
Lessons to learn:
1- Willpower is not enough. I need something to distract my hand. I need a stress ball, or silly putty, to remind myself to keep my hand AWAY FROM MY HEAD. Where can I buy a stress ball or silly putty?
2- One hair turns into many hairs. ALWAYS. ALWAYS. ALWAYS. If I am trying to quit pulling with my hair, why pull one hair and think I can get away with it? When I was quitting smoking, taking one puff of a cigarette would have NOT counted as quitting. I need to QUIT. Not a single hair.
3- Once I put the hair in my mouth to play with it, that's it. I'm done. I'm gone. Not a single hair.
4- When going crazy, take it 5 minutes at a time. I can be pull free for 5 minutes at a time. I don't have to commit to the entire day.......
The pull, purge the urge, go for it! You can do this!! It really does work!
I wish the magic wand was working and we could all have pull-free status boom!
Hugs!!!!
Willpower is not enough, but it helps. I put that into the Commitment category. The community of support is tremendously helpful, and you are here, so you have a great leg up. I always go back to my ABC's - i find they cover all the bases.
I know inositol works for a lot of people too, as Trickster says. Give it a try.
Stay strong!
This is so much worse than trying to quit smoking.
Been a while since that happened.
I HATE WRITING......... UGH, SO BORED OF THIS PAPER.
