Beating Trich Community Group
You mean that there is a name for IT? Im not weird? Trichotillomania, that big, long word that is the bane of our world. With knowledge and support of others we CAN break free and live without this disorder interfering with our lives. Lets keep this uplifting and supportive and give each other the encouragement the other needs to make it to that next day.

This is Trish Tolamania from trichworld if you don't know (yes, I wrote the alias trying to be funny).
I had one pull free streak last November/December, the longest one I remember having ever. Checking in with this community was such a huge help, in order to achieve that. In February I started pulling again and, after a few lame attempts to slow it down, I gave up altogether and just started pulling again at will.
Now it's July 1, I am 3 days pull free and I just want to take it DAY BY DAY and get involved in this community again! I hadn't logged in for so long, when I did log in last week, I started crying hysterically. Isn't that funny?
My main goal right now is to reach 7 days pull free, then buy myself some really expensive hair product as a reward. But I know my main reward for stopping will just be FEELING GOOD AND NOT HAVING TO WORRY ABOUT IT SO MUCH!

I did the dumbest thing today. I charged my earbuds, unplugged the block and put the block in my little bag instead of the earbuds. I wasn't happy about that when I got to the gym. What a dummy!

Years ago, I won a mirrored armoire from my job. It's in my bedroom but I rarely stand in front of it. Yesterday, I had to have a dexascan done so I had to change into a gown. There was a full length mirror in the changing room. I'm aware that I gained 5 to 7 pounds over the last year from cheating on Keto but I didn't know what it looked like. It was a reality check.
I'm starting over also.
GO TRISH!!!! Check in with me, perhaps we can encourage each other.
Today is DAY FIVE! My strategy today involves:
1- Sitting on hand
2- covering head with scarf
3- Cleaning nails when I feel urge to pull
4- STAYING MINDFUL!
One strategy that really is working is just covering my head and mouth with my scarf and chewing on the scarf when I get an urge. Sitting on my hand as well.
Although by far, the thing that is most helping me is just talking to myself in a positive way. Every time I catch myself having a critical thought, I just tell myself, STOP.... Negative critical thinking is by far probably the number one cause of my pulling.
Plasters a good idea too.
I did bite off two of my nails yesterday, but whatever. Nails grow up much faster than hair.
I am going to try the scarf thing.
about the nails... i chew too. ur right. nails grow faster and u can use fake ones
THANK U SO MUCH FOR YOUR SUPPORT

Still, I am basically not going to have a routine for the next month because I am going to be in a totally different country. Lack of route usually equals PULLING for me. But it was literally either GTFO (for the record, that means, GET THE FUCK OUT) or just stay in the city for the summer AND ROT. I haven't even told any of my friends that I'm going. I dunno why. WOrried that they will try to convince me to stay? My bosses know (and gave me approval, they were just like, ok, just write us some articles), my family knows, my boyfriend knows. I just haven't told anyone in my social circle here in the city. I'm just like, well, I'll be back in a month.
Ok, going to drink a beer to sedate myself and fall asleep, cuz I have to wake up in 6 hours. Then pack. And change money. And pay my rent. And leave money for my friend to water my boyfriend's plants while I am away (even though.... surprise.... I haven't been paid yet for last month! AUGHHH! ALL MY SAVINGS, GONE)
That is my stream of consciousness update. Goodnight!
You're doing so great, hair is more important than nails.
I wonder how many people with trich also bite their nails...I used to bite mine so bad I could barely hold a pencil and they got infected. I stopped in high school, but I always have to keep them manicured or I chew them off. Nails grow faster though, haha. It was a much easier habit to break...
Good luck with your traveling and great job being pull free!!
