Beating Trich Community Group
You mean that there is a name for IT? Im not weird? Trichotillomania, that big, long word that is the bane of our world. With knowledge and support of others we CAN break free and live without this disorder interfering with our lives. Lets keep this uplifting and supportive and give each other the encouragement the other needs to make it to that next day.

Hi, My name is Sam and I'm new to this group. I am 23 and have had trich since I was 12. Over the years I have tried many times to stop, however it's only this past year that I have started to research ways of stopping, and have been really determined to do it. I plan on doing so with a combination of understanding, will-power, exercise, trying the John Kender diet, and seeing a therapist. I love designing, illustrating, cooking, extreme sports, exercising, seeing live music and reading. I would love to provide others with encouragement, and maybe get some support when I fall.

Aaah through the radio, smart!
Keep it up, hands away! You're doing wonderful, three good things for yourself daily sounds wonderful!
Oh yes timing makes all the difference. And thank you. You're right, times are much better now.
Thanks Jesden!! :)
Oh interesting Mid. 3 things daily is good but its surprisingly easy to forget to do!
27 days pull free! On day 28. I struggled a little last night. I could see how easy it would be to slip. I really have to make sure that if I slip I'm not "starting over". I think I have issues with that, as much as I think I don't. It's just so discouraging. I guess it's where sticker charts can be helpful, and %pf months (one of manda's tactics).
I'm not 28 days pf til tomorrow morning (im just on day 28 today). I'll celebrate that but 30 days pf is a more exciting goal.
I might post my success like:
27 days pf
Or
10 out of 10 days pf this year
Or
Or 100% pf days this month
I choose to count in days, but keep the percentage in the back of my mind, as an extra motivation :)
day 28!!! You go girl!
I have often found it more motivating to look at success as a whole....like how well I have done overall being pull free during the last few weeks. During periods when I wasn't able to be pull free for a significant length of time, that method still allowed me to see progress over the previous month. And if I had a bad month, I could just start the count again the next month. Everyone has their own reasons why their methods work for them, and there are so many great ideas other people have posted on here, too!
When it comes to keeping track, I have to use multiple ways to keep my hopes up, especially when I'm struggling to make it to two minutes through a stressful moment.
So, go for it, whatever works, and when it works, use it! It is why we have an arsenal to pull our weapons from!
Best wishes!
Manda - looking at my success as a whole helps too. After looking back through my thread a couple of weeks ago I saw that I really have been pretty consistently trying to be pf since December 2010. Even if it was one day pf the next day pulling, all those pf and ppf days add up.
Mid - yes multiple solutions is the solution! I agree. Each situation is different and may require different tools. Thanks.
Alrighty well I'm 28 days/ 4 weeks pull free!!! 2 days til 30.
I tried the meditation thing yesterday and it helped me to fall asleep, so thanks!! :)
