  My husband passed in 2016.  My daughters were 14 and 9 at the time.  My oldest is leaving for college next week, and I am a wreck.  I know that the loss of her every day will not be like the loss of my husband because I can call her.  But I don't know what level of loss I will experience and I'm  dreading it.  Added to that, I find myself grieving for my husband so much.  If nothing else than to get a hug and escape the burden of it all for a second.  And I'm mad at him for making me go...

  It’s Been a While

  My husband passed away the morning of September 1, 2016.  At the time our two daughters were in 8th and 4th Grades.  It's so weird how you just get used to the pain.  Their absence is not easier, but your wall thicker.  I learned quickly to keep myself busy so that I don't have time to think.  Our girls are doing pretty well.  They have both asked to go to counseling.  So I wonder what the loss was like for them.  It's bound to be different from my own.

  My wall broke down over Christmas.   I haven't been able get it back.  It's almost as if I am at square one, and I have to fight through it all over again.  I think I feel even more alone and void now than I did.  I'm just discouraged because I worked so hard to get to a point where I thouhgt that I could do it: I would be okay until I saw him again.  Now I know that I will never truly escape it.  I need to know if I will ever be truly okay again.

  Tomorrow will be a year.  I am able to enjoy my children.  I live to make sure their lives are awesome.  (They are so amazing.)  I mostly run like a machine now.  And there are not as many dark days as there was.  I still hate being in this world without him.  But I think that I have accepted it.  I stay way clear of triggers.  One huge thing is that I don't hate myself anymore.  I hated who I was without him.  I am so thankful to have been the one who got to be his wife.  He was...
