on June 12,2017 I lost the love of my life due to colon cancer. Ryan was 41 years old. We have 3 wonderful children and a grandson. Any advice on coping for the next few days/weeks? I still don't feel as if he is gone. Tonight I took my children to dinner and seeing the empty chair next to my son I almost lost it. How do people do this?

Good question. I have no idea. Never done it before myself.
Never went out to eat alone before really, never went to a movie alone, or even so much as gone grocery shopping alone without my spouse, a kid, or a friend in tow. I have no choice. And I thimk that is all it is. We have no choice. We are still here. Pets and/or kids still need to be fed, we still need to eat ourselves at least occasionally, bills keep coming in and have to be psid if you aren't going to sit in the dark or cook in the heat, kids gotta go to school. Lunches have to be made, clothes have to be washed, shoes have to be found, homework has to be checked. Somebody has to try to keep it together and keep things moving. And if you are the designated adult, guess what, you are elected. It's so hard sometimes, though. I burst into tears at church at a song DH and I used to do together for another church when we were young. I didn't know they were planning on doing it because it was my first time there. Bawled through the whole music portion and half of the sermon. I cried at Dennys the first time I went and sat alone in our "regular booth". I cry at commercials and at songs on the radio and at things people say in jest or without thinking or at nice things that happen....... I cry when the cat makes herself comfortable in DH's chair because I know DH isn't going to come chase her out of it. ""How do people do this?""
Well, I guess.....
You cry, and you do it anyway. Because you have to.
