The Most Precious Gift

Tomorrow will be a year.  I am able to enjoy my children.  I live to make sure their lives are awesome.  (They are so amazing.)  I mostly run like a machine now.  And there are not as many dark days as there was.  I still hate being in this world without him.  But I think that I have accepted it.  I stay way clear of triggers.  One huge thing is that I don't hate myself anymore.  I hated who I was without him.  


I am so thankful to have been the one who got to be his wife.  He was truly extraordinary!  I loved my time with him.  It was Everything.  I thank the Lord daily for having given me of all people the gift of him.

Wow! What a wonderful post to read first thing in the morning! I am so proud of you and how you've handled this journey that you have been on. I'm so sorry for your loss but thankful that you were gifted with such a wonderful partner as was he!
I'll be thinking of you tomorrow and pray for your continued courage and strength!

It will also be a year for me 4 days from now. My hunny passed away Sept 4 and I arranged a get together on Sunday and offered a Mass for him on the day itself. I completely feel the same as you do. I am doing okay and sometimes feel the old "me" is coming back. Well maybe not the same "me" but another version of myself. A huge part of me went with him the day he passed and I guess the missing parts were replaced with new ones. I still do have moments when I suddenly breakdown but they don't occur that often anymore. And like you, I feel so blessed I had somebody like my husband in my life . He was the kindest person I know. He supported me in everything I do and wholly accepted me inspite of my craziness and strange quirks. I miss him terribly.. I dont think I will ever meet somebody like him ever again...

I knew you worked hard. I did the same to fight off the negative voices in my head. Pain is unavoidable but suffering isn't when one is not fighting against his or herself. You can't be the best expression of yourself to others if you can't trust and accept yourself without conditions.

What a beautiful thing to say and though my husband had quite a few issues and there is still mystery surrounding him/ unanswered questions, I'm also grateful for him entering my life. As I understood him more, and appreciated our relationship more, that's when I lost him...
