I think it's really a very personal feeling. My husband past almost 8 months ago. I was still wearing my rings on my ring finger until 1 month ago. I looked down at my ring finger and felt so unmarried! It didn't feel right anymore. I decided that I would continue wearing my 10th year anniversary band on my right hand instead.

I wear mine around my neck with her ring as well. I really don't think our loved one's mind about how long we wear it, it is just something we do to comfort ourselves and to respect our loved one's. Tangible objects are probably pretty silly to those who have passed on to the other side. This is just my opinion.

I put my husband's ring on a gold chain for his memorial, 5 weeks ago and keep my wedding bands on my finger and kiss thm every day. I like the thought of one day...a long time from now, linking them together on a gold chain. Thanks for sharing everyone that is comforting to me.

I think a person should do what feels natural to them and not worry about what other people think or say. If you want to wear your rings, do it, until you don't want to do it. I recieve static from my sis because she thinks I should take them off or wear them on a chain but I follow my heart and I really feel like a married person. It's some thing I look at every day... a reminder that what I had was real and loving. I also wear my husbands wedding band on my thumb. It's a perfect fit and I don't plan on taking it off any time soon.

I placed my husbands wedding ring right next to mine, I still wear them and always will, we exchanged these rings through love and the love will always there,in my eyes I am still a married woman and so i'll wear our rings forever.

I had to come back and write an update to my original letter which was written at a time when I was having such a hard time making any kind of a decision at all in my life. It is now 22 months after my beloved Paul's death and not a day go by that the loss and emptiness doesn't make my soul ache. I have however learned how to function and move forward and finally after a little over a year I did move my wedding rings to my right hand which is where they will stay forever. I began to feel uncomfortable with them on my left hand because I no longer felt married in the same way and it just didn't feel right anymore so I just knew when the time was right for me just as everyone said I would.I still wear Paul's ring on a gold chain around my neck and there it will stay also. This works well for me and I am very comfortable with both things.I think these decisions work themselves out naturally over time and you just know what is right for you.I thank each of you for all your input over all this time and want you to know I read each one and thought about what was right for me.Hugs to All,Colleen

i also wear my rings on my right hand as well as his around my neck we had 2 sets our originals and anew one eventually I will give my second set to my grandaughter and grandson but for noe I will wear them the original will never leave my neck or my right hand no matter what because he was my whole life i have eveb decided i will probaly never remarry because i do not feel tht anybody needs to live with a ghost and that would be what would happen I had a very happy marriag for 30 yrs and no one could feel his shoes

I still wear my rings, and I decided that I will wear my rings for 1 year and after that I will think about maybe taking them off. Maybe. I was told it was up to me so that's how I'm handeling it. Otherwise, your guess is as good as mine. There is no etiquete on this as far as I know.

I just had my wedding ring sized and had the diamond put back in I plan to wear it forever, I also had an eternity ring made that I wear on my baby finger I plan to wear them side by side, but if one day I change my mind so be it, don't worry or think what others will say or think, just do what you feel you want to do.

Yes I think it is what makes you feel happy is the main thing. I personally will keep my wedding ring where he placed it and i've put his next to mine.I'll always be married to him and i don't feel his death changes that.This is my second ring as i've put weight on but my original is safe in my jewellry box, i would love to wear it around my neck but terrified in case I lose it.

I have never even thought about taking mine off...It will be 44 years in Novemeber since my Dad died and my Mom who is 94 is still wearing her rings...I have thought about that may be when my son or daughter gets married I will asked them if they want their "parents rings"....I dont think there is any set time as to when we should or should not removed them....

I have mine still on and I have his in my jewelry box. Sometimes I feel like I should take it off, but then I feel like I am betraying Don.

my wedding ring means so much to me - I will never take it off, couldnt remotely consider it as my husband was my soulmate and we were married for 38 years. We had a bad time in the second decade of our marriage when I stopped wearing one, then I lost it anyway..oh dear.....eventually we got another one - eventually I found the old one at the back of an old cupboard - it must have come off when I was clear it out! not very often obviously as it was missing for nearly 14 years! I now wear them both, one as a symbol of our 'forever' marriage, the other as a symbol that things went wrong but then when we recovered from this, our marriage was even better.......

I do think a younger woman may feel differently, though, about this....and I say, do what you feel is right - there will be a time when you will naturally KNOW what to do - if you are uncertain, leave it for a while - you really will know....

Our rings were very important to us, even after almost 40 years. I remember during one of his radiations, the nurse asked him to remove his ring and he told her it had not been off except for sizing during our marriage and he would prefer not to. It has been eight months since his death, I still wear mine. It would have to be a personal preference, I just feel closer to him and naked without it.
