maybe it will give us a chance to see the flip side of the different personalities here.

i got the news today that my grampy died. even though he was just a little shy of 90, it still was not expected. However, he just sat down to watch some tv in his favorite chair, fell asleep, and just didnt wake back up. in reality, we should all hope to be so lucky.

Des - sorry to hear about your grandpa. He must have been a special person. Truly a peaceful way to go. I hope all the rest of the family is doing ok. It's usually toughest on those left behind - missing someone that was special to them. Take care

Very sorry about your gramps des. It's definitely a peaceful way to die. My mother was fighting to breathe in her final hours. Lord knows I wish she coulda gone a more pain free way. Here is some prayers for you and your family.

thank you everyone. it is very appreciated. I am trying to not be sad. its sad, just because i love his voice, his stories, the way he talks. He was just such an absolutely hilarious man. my cousin dusty had the best adjective ever for him. "inappropriate." lol.

seriously. he was so hilarious. If ever he was in the hospital and one of the nurses were to come in and say, "okay, time for me to check on you." he would say, "okay, start checking between my legs." We always knew he was feeling better when he would start "getting fresh" with the nurses. he always blamed his farts on "barking spiders", he has a cat that hates just about everyone but him and me. When he would want it to come sit with him he would lean back in his chair and pat his chest and say, "okay, come be sociable." and on holidays it was only a matter of time before he kicked back too many glasses of wine and came downstairs in this mildewed curly wig that he has had for god knows how long. Such an awesome man.

muchlove---------------thank you very much. but in actuality, it really wasnt too soon. He would be 90 next month! He had a GREAT run.

i was just over at my dads with him, my brother, cousins, aunts, and uncle. we were going through pictures of him. omg. even though tears were rolling, i had such a smile on my face. photos of him in that old nasty wig, super short shorts, and cowboy boots with a drink in hand from 50 years ago! the man was HILARIOUS. he knew how to live, that is for sure, and he had an awesome life.
