Sounded like your Gramps had a full and fun life, and I'm sure he wants the same for you!

Although you will miss the person dearly you can still celebrate and savor all those fun and wonderful memories you made and shared together. Those never go away - you keep the fond memories forever!

Also, look forward to making new memories with the young ones in your family too. You are becoming one of those fun people/adults that they will look too fondly in their lives as well. I think your Gramps would have a smile on his face thinking of all the fun you all will still have!

today was really rough. but i am ending it feeling pretty well. i was holding it together okay until they did the gun salute and they started playing taps. just watching my cousin and my brother in law in uniform saluting. that was it for me. than when they opened the crypt to put his ashes in and i could see my grandma box of ashes too? i sobbed my eyes out. But i think i really needed that. I had let myself cry a little, but i had not let myself just totally let go in grief. The rest of the day and evening was spent with my family, sharing stories and just sharing love in general. i think i am more tired than sad anymore. If anything, i am really happy for what an awesome life my grampy had. good-night, god bless grampy. i love you.

Janne Wirman's keyboard skills always amaze me. It can be as old as "Hate Me!" or as new as "Hellbounds On My Trail". He always has something to add to Children of Bodom that makes them my favorite band.

Metallica gets melodic with guitar tricks. Children of Bodom gets melodic with guitar and keyboard. Guitar thrashing may put you off but if you pay attention to the riffs and keyboard lines you can hear the melodicness of Children of Bodom.

If I could meet Janne Wirman or Alexi Laiho my life would be complete.

@ Des....Much love and many hugs to ya sweetie. I lost my Granny in 03 and was completely devasted for many weeks. She was awesome. She and i did many things together all through my life, and was even with me at the birth of my son. I know ya know this, but time helps the wound to heal and the many happy memories come flooding back.

today i am going to make the drive to lincoln to go see my grandma! She is our last, biological, living, grandparent now! (i recognize my step-dad's mom as my grandma, despite the fact that my step-dad and mom divorced over 10 years ago. but, my siblings dont maintain a relationship with her or my step-dad). She has never met my son (who is 3.5) or my sister's husband (and they have been together 8 years!).

i went and saw her earlier this year, but my sister has not seen her since my wedding 5 years ago! It is REALLY important she go to see her, because she lived with them for awhile when she was a baby since my mom had her young. My sister isnt a very emotional person and isnt one to call people to talk, so she REALLY needs to see my grandma before something happens and she lives with that regret.

my daughter is SUPER excited about it. i am too. my grandma is so awesome and so modern. i can call and talk to her a half hour or more easily and laugh the whole time. some awesome quotes from her? she was telling me how much she loves pancakes, but how my mom is the only person who ever takes them out to get them, and she says, "...and i am not ABOUT to keep the makings for pancakes in my house. they are too damned fattening!" lmao! the women is nearing 87! she still goes to the beauty shop to dye her hair and says, "i will go to my grave a brunette!" she is awesome.
