Many of you know Mr K told me to "shut your mouth" in March 2025 when we took a road trip to Alpena Michigan. Since that time, we have had lots of ups and downs but I have never intentionally hurt Mr K in anyway. And when we first started dating in 2024 he let me know, although he is an engineer by degree, he has an extremely low EQ. Overall, he is ok (not off the charts nice like other guys in...

years ago a guy who was mentally ill killed more than 30 college students. We absolutely need free mental health care for those who cant afford it. Most cities / counties have a free health clinic for phsical illnesses. It is paid for out of property tax revenues in the area . Problem is , you cant make them take the meds.
And then another incident occurs, where people say "Let's focus on the families and not what to do about it." I am fed up. And feel so powerless. Something has to change.
Whether it is amending the 2nd amendment (and that does not mean banning All guns -- but think about it: what would our founding forefathers really think of "the Right to Bear Arms" knowing that innocent children are being mowed down in a classroom? -- and remember: the guns of the 1700s took 3 minutes to reload, not a fraction of a second using an automatic weapon)
Whether it is offering more accessible, affordable mental health services to Everyone (I, for one, cannot afford any therapy ... so what am I supposed to do to affect my own healing? I come here to DS, I journal, I go to 12 step programs ... but I cannot afford individualized counseling).
Enough Already. Something Pro-active Needs to be done. Before another innocent group of people gets hurt by yet another sicko. "oh, how could we have prevented it? Little Johnny was always such a quiet, strange boy." Sure, people love to just blame it all on Little Johnny. [sarcasm]
I am heartsick.
i've cried and cried....so very sad and heartbreaking....i feel shattered.
Rest in Peace for the ones who passed away...Lord, please bless the ones left to mourn. Amen.
At this very moment it is about the families, how can we help them? They will all be in need of mental health care for quite some time (some of them anyway). Some may never be well again.
Just the other day their was a shooting in a mall, a mass stabbing in Japan, and NOW this.
Yes, we need more legislation and laws regarding mental health. We need mandatory free treatment for those who cant afford it. We need our teachers educated to recognize mental illness and possible problems and how to handle it. Just like certain illness, abuse, if a teacher is trained and suspects a problem then she should inform the chain of command and after a proper evaluation is done the parent should be contacted by Social Service in order for them to find help for the kid.. We need police protection and metal devices on all of the doors of a public school. I think we need a million other things when it comes to saving our children. Locks on school class room with bullet proof glass and a phone to call 911 in case of an emergency. Train teachers and students what to do in case of an attack just like they do with fire drills. . Attendants or security guards signing people in from each entrance as they come and go. Police and camera's located at the school.
I could think of things all day long, but who is going to pay for it? Tax Increase? Seems the only way, but wouldn't you rather have it for this than wasting time on gun control. LEGAL or not, people will get them when they want one/two or a million. Drugs are illegal, the war on drugs has only made the problem worse. And now, we want the only people with guns to be the outlaws. Yeah, I feel real safe in this world.
I think parents should be more educated to recognize mental health problems in their children and what to do about it. That boy" s mamma had to know he was sick and had access to all of that ammunition. And quite possibly have known the school was in danger. I am not saying she was a part of it, but just kept her eyes closed and hoped nothing happened. Wake up parents, pay attention to your child! And if they find out she did, I hope they arrest her too.
I don't know, this makes me sad, mad and feeling all the emotions their are to feel.
Protection, education and better mental health laws are part of the answer in my opinion anyway. Sorry for the rant, but this breaks my heart.
I beg you to have your hands upon those who are wounded, and upon those who have lost their precious, beautiful babies. Have your hand upon the families and friends who are in shock right now, and comfort them as only you can. For those who are wounded and in the hospital, heal them. For those who's lives have been torn apart today, help them to hang on to you. Please God, in a world where there is such heartless evil, let your healing love flow... Amen
