Hello everyone. Just heard on the news about the shooting. at Sandy hook Elementary so Far they have confirmed 27 dead 18 are childern This is just horrific. I can't understand how somebody could do this sort of thing My heart breaks for the familes who have lost childern Please Keep the family,s in your thoughts and prayers today.
How does one get their mind around this?
And the reason we don't comprehend how a person could do this is we don't understand the kind of relationship this lad (the killer) and his mother had.
Maybe they hated each other. Maybe the lad's mother said some of the most horrible things to him. Maybe she wished him never born. Maybe he became jealous of all new life from all new parents who actually do love their children, so he sought to make a "statement" before ending his own life.
Maybe the lad was experiencing much anger and hate. Or maybe his mother was very loving toward him, and he just had a screw loose. I doubt it. Such a grievous act comes from years of abuse and premeditation.

Im not going to shoot anyone for stealing jewelry..just hold them till the police arrive. But Im wondering if maybe it would be agood idea having someone at schools doing this, like we have air marshalls on flights now. My Ruger .357 only holds 5 bullets, which is 4 moe than I need.
Dont want to sound lik a cowboy..Im just so frustrated to think no one
was there to protect those kids.
With all the media reports and the majority of them reporting inconsistent information, at this point I feel we really don't know what to believe or probably ever will have a sense of understanding about this calamity. All I know is the shooter fits the same profile that most of the other shooters have manifested before they chose to "act out" their quest for committing such an unthinkable act that would not have even entered the mind of any sane male or female. I thought our schools were protected against entry by those who desire to commit such an atrocity. I understood, (mistakenly obviously) that ALL schools were protected by security measures, i.e. scanners for any weapons carried onto the facility, that all personell entries had to be checked in by an armed security guard, just some of the same measures that are installed at government offices, legal courts, airlines, (you get the picture), so I wonder what in the world went wrong. Had an armed security guard been at the entry and observed the threat coming, this may have been avoided. These people just make me think they were "sheep" open to "slaughter". Now, that's pretty extreme expression, I admit, but I thought our schools were ever bit as secure as other facilities that house masses of people. My local hospital has an on sight armed security guard and entry to and from is constantly monitored by a surveillance system. There are cameras at shopping centers and business; were there none of the measures available at this school that may have alerted those inside that evil was entering their midst?
I just don't understand. So many unanswered questions. So much heart ache and suffering. I can only imagine, what those families must be feeling right now. When Mother called to tell me she had heard it on the T.V., I got sick to my stomach and wanted to vomit.
Too much evil in this society. Now, mind you all, it's not lurking behind every door or every bush or everywhere we go; but it is surely among us.
My thoughts and prayers go for all the families who lost their love ones and to those who still had theirs with them today. What trauma for all these individuals to deal with.
Even if the report of entry was accessed via the window, were there no alarms on the windows that would have herald an intruder?
So many questions, so many answers eluding us, so much confusion.
Just still believe this senseless act could have been prevented if appropriate measures had been in place. Goverment offices have them; airlines have them; why not our schools?
Still, evil will always find an entry if it can. To attempt to minimize any casualties is the best one can possible attempt to achieve. To stop or terminate the ability of the assualant to achieve their goal is the primary objective.
Senseless. Just so senseless.

It's because of the way the media reports it. Flip on the news and watch how we treat the Batman theater shooter and the Oregon mall shooter like celebrities. Dylan Klebold and Eric Harris are household names, but do you know the name of a single *victim* of Columbine? Disturbed
people who would otherwise just off themselves in their basements see the news and want to top it by doing something worse, and going out in a memorable way. Why a grade school? Why children? Because he'll be remembered as a horrible monster, instead of a sad nobody.
CNN's article says that if the body count "holds up", this will rank as the second deadliest shooting behind Virginia Tech, as if statistics somehow make one shooting worse than another. Then they post a video interview of third-graders for all the details of what they saw and heard while the shootings were happening. Fox News has plastered the killer's face on all their reports for hours. Any articles or news stories yet that focus on the victims and ignore the killer's identity? None that I've seen yet. Because they don't sell. So congratulations, sensationalist media, you've just lit the fire for someone to top this and knock off a day care center or a maternity ward next.
You can help by forgetting you ever read this man's name, and remembering the name of at least one victim. You can help by donating to mental health research instead of pointing to gun control as the problem. You can help by turning off the news."
The only thing that is going to help is taking the stigma off of mental illness and evaluating sooner. Of course with some types of mental illness there is no help. You can't stop a sociopath from killing people. We just need to learn how to detect and treat them earlier. I know that Christmas morning I will still have my mind on the those poor children and their families. And, I will still be hugging my own more thanking God for having them in my life.
You know, I thought their already was a law against the mentally ill owning guns! Well, if you want gun control I would certainly agree with that one. But, then again someone else like this guys mother will buy the guns for them. Where is the end? So, what is the use of imposing a law that will basically be disregarded. Only the decent people who follow laws will obey and they are the ones in the most need of protection.
