I know the principal at my daughters school and if he was at least allowed to carry (concealed) on school grounds, i think I could trust him not to do something stupid with it, someone who is invested in the students i think would have the least chance of using it on them.

we need more protection at the schools I just can't believe that he would shoot little kids. they Did Nothing wrong they Had thier whole lives ahead of them

totally agree he had to have had a severe mental illness, It's too bad people will focus on gun control rather than improving the mental care system in this country because of this, I think that is where the truly skewed priorities lie.

The sad part is this is not the UK. This is not New Zealand. This is the US and sadly we need people with the right to carry guns because unless you rewrite the constitution....you are not going to be a happy camper in the US. You are not you going to send a man into a war zone without a weapon now are you?

Mental health needs to be a topic nationally. How many shootings are we going to have to go through? It doesn't sound like this could have been prevented so far from what I'm hearing. So sad.

I live in CT, about 40 minutes from Sandy Hook. It's a small, typical, old fashioned quiet mainstream American town. If you knew the town, it would be the last place on earth you would expect something like this would happen.

Re: gun control....I am not a proponent of guns. But for the hunters and sportsmen, I can put up with it. BUT, explain to me why a civilian should need or have access to the gun used that rivals an AK-47???
I'm pretty sure our founding fathers, when they drafted the constitution, weren't thinking of weapons like an AK when including the part about the right to bear arms. In fact, had they a crystal ball at the time, they would have left that part out and maybe a heck of a lot of people would be alive today.
