Oh...Mary...DNA is a wonderful thing because I had a friend of mine that got a hit out of the DNA data bank on a cold case that was a rape case. The guy had been caught in another state for a felony that required a DNA sample and the hit came from the FELONY conviction.

Clarification...The friend is an Investigator who had this case as an inactive case that was sitting there waiting for a DNA profile to match.

NIce thing is that with the DNA hit he was able to get the warrant...no questions asked. DNA has to be the best thing ever for prosecution in these type of cases. Stranger rapes are hard to solve...however they are less common then Date Rape (which is rarely reported) or drug induced rape.

One more intersting point....In my rape victim interview class the instructor started out with a very interesting point. He called a female student to the front of the class. When she was there he told her to describe her last sexual experience in detail. As soon as he paused he stopped her and said that is what it is like when we interview victims of rape. I found it very interesting the way he made his point but it has a lot of bearing. It makes you realize why a lot of them go unreported.. None the less...I think that the other clarification that I failed to make was the differet types of reported rape....Anway...this is a heated topic and best left alone.

I am sorry guys. I really didn't clarify what I meant and I lumped all rape into one category which I shouldn't have. There are so many different kinds of rape, such as date rape, drug enduced rape, and the many other types that I didn't say what I was talking about. I am terribly sorry and didn't mean to offend.

Well, Heave, you need to be more fucking CAREFUL, especially if your are really a cop. Listen, just yesterday, a VERY seasoned Deputy District Atty whom I personally know was arrested for allegedly raping, violently another Deputy District Atty. This is very fucking serious. Regardless of the outcome, he is sitting in jail right now. Innocent or guilty, he is sitting in jail right now and his career is over. Men rape women. (And there are other permutations, genderwise, but that is the majority one.) I have been stranger-raped at knife-point. I was ridiculed by doctors and police. My husband raped me. That was extraordinarily traumatic, and I am not likely to get much udnerstanding for that, given the marital relationship, but it was rape nonetheless, a flat-out crime. My point is that you cannot make these kind of comments and then expect people to just sweep them udner the rug. You owe it to yourself to take advantage of the education being offered to you here on DS, people here (like me) who are more than willing to educate you as to the realities of rape and help you be a better man, a better cop, a better person. Let's not just say "never mind". Cuz it ain't like that, OK?
