Back to clean, dirty old fun.
Seriously, I have worked these sex crimes and been the reporting officer on them. I have seen what happens. There are times when you have the real deal and it is absoultely horrible. I have been to classes on interviewing rape victims and it is not a pleasant interview at all. Rape is the most demeaning crime out there. When a woman is raped, her life is altered from that point on.
I am not trying to down play the actual role of rape or throw mud in rape victims eyes. I am stating the facts that there is a large number of falsely reported rapes...probably proportional to the amount of non-reported rapes.
But you have no compassion for innocent women and children in war zones either so, no surprise. You are a wolf on sheep's clothing. It's nice you are going past your pirate persona so we can see who you really are.
And THESE stats came from Vanderbilt Univercity - NOT the Enquirer.
Myth: Women often lie about being raped.
Fact: Only about 2% of all rape and related sex charges are determined to be false, the same percentage as for other felonies. Many cases are dropped because of insufficient evidence for conviction but this should not be confused with false reporting.
Sorry, Pitt, I know it is easier to say let's keep it light, but when someone challenges something so critical, I feel most entitled to speak my mind.
So, with that, good will to all of you, I hope that you will all stay friends, and good night to this thread.
If I have offened any women and mixed up words I am sorry...But the fact is that I have seen the cases come in. THe statics that Joan brings up are cases that actually go to the point of reporting. I have seen them when they come in and the case never ended up being reported.
Another unfortunate fact is that when the case is reported some victims don't follow through with the case. That is ashame and not good.
I am not trying to defend rapists. They are vial people who need to be thrown in jail and never get out (you can't rehabilitate them). Casitration was a subject that was studied and surprisingly, it was found to be ineffective in detering further sexual assaults.
There are probably a few women on this board that have been victims of rape...probably a few of them that haven't report it.
The common misconception is that rape is a crime of sex. It isn't. It is about power and control.
None the less...I think that we have gotten far off the beaten path. This post was meant to be a joke and not to be taken seriously and it has turned into a monster. Please don't misinterpriate what I am saying here as I am speaking with my years of experience in law enforcement. Yes...my view points can be jaded from years on the job. No, I am not saying that rape is excusable or always false. I know that a lot of the reports I took didn't go to prosecution and I never had the cases in court.
Rape against any person, man or woman, is a serious offense and deserves to be treated as such. It's not a laughing matter. How is anyone who is a victim of this type of crime supposed to get justice when the cops who are sworn to investigate it don't take it seriously??
Yes, there are many rapes cases that go unreported because the victims are too embarrassed to file a report and yes there are those who make false allegations but many of the cases that are reported are not given the proper attention they deserve precisely because of the mentality that was clearly demonstrated by Heave and other similar cops. It's such a sad statement when a victim not only loses her dignity and security by the person who raped her but she also loses her dignity again by the cop who believes she is a liar and doesn't bother to his job properly.
