Darkness! When do you start allergy shots? I've been doing them for awhile and they seem to help even though they are a pain! I hear you on the waiting to not be sick...I've missed two shots because of this bronchitis and cough!

I don't know when I start the shots as it takes a month for the allergy serum to arrive at the pharmacy. I then pick it up at the pharmacy and take it to the allergy clinic at a doctor's office. Sorry you had bronchitis! I had a chest x-ray yesterday to rule out pneumonia and am waiting for the results. The Nurse Practitioner gave me a prescription for ranitidine in case it's acid reflux but I don't think it is. Chest congestion, burning pain in my upper chest and back when I breathe, some coughing, low grade fevers, shortness of breath.

Chest x-ray was normal. So this must just be a really bad asthma flare from another cold or the same cold. She just said to keep using my asthma medications and nebulizer. Very frustrating! I don't want to try the acid reducer because I don't have symptoms associated with acid reflux.

Oh man! I'm sorry darkness! I would try the acid reducer sometimes the symptoms mimic each other (I have acid reflux and it makes me cough too sometimes).

I'm glad you don't have pneumonia!! Whew! But I'm sorry you still have fever and shortness of breath. I wish they had something to give you for that!!! Is it doing any better?

I decided to try ranitidine(zantac) today. I took it along with Gaviscon. Only to find out I should take it after my evening meal or before bed. I'd probably take it after my evening meal in case of side effects. I took it early because I was worried about getting diarrhea from it. I have a month's supply. I shouldn't have taken the Gaviscon right away because I guess it has to be taken 2 hours after medications or it won't be as effective. I'm not sure how long I should wait to notice a difference. Sometimes I cough up phlegm but most of the time I don't cough up anything.

I was wheezing really loudly this morning and took saline in my nebulizer. I don't feel any better right now but I know it's only the first dose. I was out of breath with a tight chest at the grocery store. Thanks for the hugs! Hope you're doing better!

I'm hurting more than ever and devastated deeply. I've been trying to "get my mind off it" and nothing works. It hurts and sad memories always come back to me. I am feeling so different and left out. I am doing yoga but it's not that helpful for me Because I can't truly relax. It's so hard and we are both feeling sad. I lost a ring that was inscribed forever family. It was so upsetting

Hey all! Darkness, how are you feeling today? I am still wheezy and the doc has added ten more days of prednisone for me and I am really really edgy now and hungry and angry....I hate this medicine...but when I take it late I'm a wheezing mess and I feel like I need it now.

Hollywood! I am so sorry you are feeling so sad. I hope you can get to relax. Its easier said than done though. I'm sorry about the ring too. I wish I could help you. My go to suggestion is yoga. But I know sometimes it doesn't help. Maybe doing something loud instead of quiet can get your mind off things?? The opposite effect maybe?? A loud concert or something like that. Of course you won't forget but maybe for a moment?

I was on prednisone from May 21st to August 26th and was miserable the entire time especially at higher doses. I felt edgy, sweating and had swelling in my hands and feet a higher doses. I hope you feel better soon!*hugs*



I'm feeling miserable! I went to see the nurse practitioner yesterday to find out that I now have fluid behind both eardrums! The pressure in my ears and head really hurts! She said to use netirinse but I don't want to use it because I don't want to risk getting water in my outer ears, My sinuses and upper chest are swollen because it's supposed to rain the next two days! I had horrible cramping and diarrhea Tuesday night.I found out that the ENT classified me as elective meaning a 6 to 10 month wait! I called their office and told them all the problems I'm having: Month long sinus infection that required two different antibiotics to treat, possible acid reflux, and now the fluid behind my ear drums. I use heat and tylenol but they don't help much. I know it's because of my sinuses which are making my eustachian tubes swell causing them to not drain properly. I want to get allergy shots but not when I'm unwell. :(

our health is suppose to realize it is the holiday season and give us a break!

I wish that were the case but usually I'm always dealing with health issues around the holiday season. I saw the ENT yesterday who looked in my nose and ears. He said there is no more fluid in my ears. He couldn't get a good look inside my nose and the endoscope can't see the sinuses. He ordered a sinus CT, He said it would take six to eight weeks to get the results back then I would see him again! He said this could be caused my all of my asthma/allergy medications or could be from chronic inflammation/infection. He did mention about surgery to widen the sinuses. I hope it wouldn't come to that because I've heard it's very very painful and doesn't always work. He said to drink lots and lots of water, to use my nasal rinse before using my nasal spray. To use my nasal spray twice a day. It sucks using it twice a day because each time it's 2 squirts in each nostril so it runs out faster since it only comes in 120 doses.

I am waiting to get a thyroid/neck ultrasound and a parathyroid scan which could take a while. It's not getting the scan and the ultrasound but getting back the written results report that takes so long. Apparently the results for the ultrasound can take up to 4 months! Crazy! I have my pulmonary function testing on January 29th. I'm trying to get allergy shots set up but have to find out whether I can get them with my sinus problems. The receptionist is going to ask the nurse and call back.
