Acute Myelogenous Leukemia (AML) Support Group
Acute myelogenous leukemia (AML), also known as acute myeloid leukemia, is a cancer of the myeloid line of blood cells. Patients with AML usually present with symptoms such as fatigue, bleeding, infection, prompting medical attention. An abnormal blood test reading will then result in further testing in a hospital with a hematologist to determine AML.
Tas, I can really relate to the panic at getting a sickness as I am there right now, I have what they say is a "viral influenza" that I have not been able to rid myself of for the last 2 months. And it's starting to progress into feeling like I did when 1st diagnosed. I felt so good for so long I guess I should have expected it couldn't last.
Every day we get is a bonus day so Julie, you are doing exactly what we should all be doing, living life and thanking God for it.

Here is where I get to try to practice what I preach-not to worry about one lab result.
Monthly labs-28 months post DX
20 months post consolidation
WBC - 3.6 down .5
HCT - 36.8 down 1
Platelets - 110 down 24
ANC 1.8 - 1.7
Now, am I worried, did I call my med team to discuss these numbers, have I prayed hard for almighty God to heal whatever is going on and to take my fear way????
A resounding yes, yes yes! This is where many of us are, clinging to these numbers and trying with all our might and all our faith NOT to fear and worry.
I can honestly say I am at peace. The good Lord knows the big picture and I trust that.
Per my med team, these numbers are still in the normal range coupled with the fact that I just returned from three weeks in 10 European countries followed by four day of work travel to Georgia. They ARE NOT worried.
In a week, I will receive the results of my Inversion 16 PCR which is the definitive indicator.
I started this thread 15 months ago for two primary reasons: to share the Good News of my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ who heals, comforts and saves a sinner like me. And to show others real-time the volatility of labs. The good the bad and the ugly.
This struggle is one we see the most here and I hope to show others they are not alone and like everyone else here I need help as often as I help.
I am asking for prayer for a negative PCR and continued remission.
May almighty God continue to bless us all.
Julie
You definitely have been on the go. The trip to Europe sounds absolutely beautiful. Your numbers look good:). I'll be praying the PCR is clear of inverted 16. You are an inspiration to me. Thank you so much:)
Julie.
My last cbc showed lowered platelets and other numbers that I really didn't like so much but like your doctors mine told me not to worry also, I've come to realize that these things fluctuate based on all sorts of factors. The stress this trip put your body under is likely the cause of the drop in your numbers. I'm sure the PCR results will be fine.
A while ago my daughter had blood taken as part of a routine check up from one of her doctors. I was very envious of those numbers, pretty much perfect. But I know I'll never have perfect blood numbers again, it's just the way it is. And if your numbers are not perfect again, so what? There are plenty of people who are walking around with numbers like yours. The nurse who took my blood last time told me she is anemic and her hemoglobin runs around 8 or 9. She looked healthy as could be.
So enjoy the weekend and I'm sure you'll get the all clear next week.
Lou
I too will pray for a great pcr for you Julie.
Hugs and prayers.

As a worrier, I hear you ---- but worry never changes anything -- and usually it is wasted, worthless energy for no reason. Listen to all these good voices and your docs. Relax and stay positive ---
