Acute Myelogenous Leukemia (AML) Support Group
Acute myelogenous leukemia (AML), also known as acute myeloid leukemia, is a cancer of the myeloid line of blood cells. Patients with AML usually present with symptoms such as fatigue, bleeding, infection, prompting medical attention. An abnormal blood test reading will then result in further testing in a hospital with a hematologist to determine AML.

I have had a strange upper chest cough for about a week with no other symptoms. This seems petty but it has concerned me because I have not had a chest cold for over three years. My UBER Triage nurse assures me that may be what caused my platelets to drop a little. But as DaveB suggest, I just don't run with scissors.
Praising almighty God for continued remission and health and praying for a negative PCR test.
Julie
I don't know about the platelets, mine were below normal last checkup for the first time in a while. The downward trend concerned me but the doctor wasn't concerned. They just seem to be finicky. If all it means is I shouldn't run with scissors, I can live with that.
I have my bi-monthly checkup Wednesday and hope to ace the test like you have. Congratulations.

I'm just the opposite. I made out through ten months of chemo withouta single fever. This chest ccold worried me. Thank you so much fir always encouraging me. I'm sure your labs will be awesome!!

May God bless us all,
Julie
I agree that post aml, everything seems cancer related. I am in the best health I've been in five years. Strange. I started this post to help others see the ups and downs of recovery post consolidation and see that slow count recovery is more common than advertised. I think the question of slow recovery is one of the most common topics. I know our really troubled me while in the battle. This also helps me to give almighty God all the glory for my healing.
Blessings
Julie
You have been a blessing to others. You are alive and living.
God Bless you,

Praising almighty God!!!!
Wednesday my family departs for a trip I have been planning for over a year-3 weeks in Europe to celebrate mine and my husbands 50th birthday, 25th anniversary and the miracle of God's healing. I do not post this to brag because I know so many a truly suffering. I share to show there is hope. There is life after AML, life more abundant than I ever dreamed.
I am truly blessed by all of you and pray for you daily.
Blessings,
Julie
Julie, I am so happy and excited for your impending travels. I too have been blessed with continued good health. Whilst only 16 months post syngeneic transplant, my blood results continue to be good (hope I don't give you platelet envy but my last count was over 300 :) and my appointments with my onc have been pushed out to 4-monthly - yay! Still have to remind myself that it's okay to get 'sick' without panicking it can be something else but I guess that will still take time. We as a family are also planning a 2 year post transplant trip overseas to celebrate. My 50th last November was celebrated within Australia as onc said definitely no overseas travel. You really are an inspiration on this board Julie and so generous with your time. Stay well :)
