Acute Myelogenous Leukemia (AML) Support Group
Acute myelogenous leukemia (AML), also known as acute myeloid leukemia, is a cancer of the myeloid line of blood cells. Patients with AML usually present with symptoms such as fatigue, bleeding, infection, prompting medical attention. An abnormal blood test reading will then result in further testing in a hospital with a hematologist to determine AML.

Platelets 114 down from 144
Am I happy with a drop of 30 on my platelets? No. But based on my love/hate relationship with my platelets I am trying very, very hard, by the grace of God, NOT to overreact. Over the past six months my platelets have gone from 99, 120, 103,125 144 and 114 today. After discussing my concerns with my amazing UBER triage nurse I remembered that I had my first cold in two years two weeks ago. Believe it or not, I made it through nine months of chemo without I single infection or fever. Praise God! She said that explained the drop in platelets. The good news is my immune system beat that cold into submission in short order.
I continue to share my labs monthly-both good and not so good in hopes of helping others who may be struggling with slow count recovery or as an archive for future support group members.
Ultimately God's will be done, it is not mine to understand. I surrender my life to the ONE who died on the cross of Calvary for me. My hearts cry is to raise my precious daughters. I am optimistic, blessed and trying very very hard to keep my "Cliff Blinders" on and put one foot in front of the other.
Hopefully, at some pace that gets my heart rate up because I have been seriously neglecting my exercise routine :-) Cliff's AML jock post has convicted me!!!!
May God Bless You All,
Julie
the exercise will help your mental well being as much as the physical gains. strenuous exercise lets me know that my body is doing what it's supposed to be doing and worry a lot less about relapse.
18 months is a huge milestone. I'm happy for you and you will raise those girls, they need their mom, know my prayers are with you and your family.
