He was going out to see his mom and do something's for her (she was living on an acreage).he left around noon. When he didn't reply to my texts mid afternoon, I figured he was cutting the grass and left his phone in his truck. Something he had done before. When he didn't come home for supper, then I started to worry. It wasn't odd for him to spend 5-6 hours out there. It wasn't odd for him not to text/call when he went out there. He drove all over the province for work. He had to check in with me when he was doing that. Day trips for work to Fort MacMurray (4 1/2 hours away). His mom was 20 minutes away. Not once did I ever worry when he went to see her.
Around the supper hour, the police came to my door.
The memories of how my Morey died are so painful to me. You all have been so brave in retelling some really horrific stories. Thank you for sharing them with us.
Morey had been sick for over a year but refused to go to the doctor. I would try and get his brother involved and even tried to get his favorite child [our oldest daughter] involved but he wouldn't listen. He became a strict vegetarian and refused to eat when we'd be invited out with friends or family. When he finally got extremely ill in March of 2011 he was suffering with mal-nutrition, dehydration and severe iron deficiency. He was taking more vitamins but they obviously didn't make any difference in his health.
Finally on March 25, 2011 he collapsed in our bathroom and couldn't get himself up. I called the paramedics and he was rushed to the hospital. He was put on iron and a multitude of supplements to bring him back to health. By then they felt he had suffered a spinal cord stroke because he could not stand or walk and would only ramble when he spoke. He refused to allow them to do any scans or MRI's and refused to eat anything other than peanut butter. I would bring him food from a health food store and he still didn't trust that it was purely vegan.
It was beyond sad to watch my strong and handsome husband turn into a bed ridden, incoherent vegetable.
He died, his heart just stopped, on April 11, 2015, in the middle of the night, and the children and I were devastated.

Those were the last words he ever spoke to me. I tried talking to him and he wouldn't respond. I started to panic and called my daughter. She said she was on her way and to call 911. I dialed the operator and while talking to her he took his final breath. I did CPR til the paramedics arrived. They worked on him for awhile and then took him to the hospital. The doctors could not revive him, he was gone. I knew as soon as he stopped breathing I would not get him back.
Shortly after 8p.m. on October 29, 2014 my heart shattered and my whole world fell apart. I lost my best friend and soul mate. He was only 52 years old and one week away from his birthday. All of the plans we had made would never happen now. I miss him so much it still hurts. I don't think I will ever feel normal again.
I am so sorry for your loss and for the reason you ended up here. It does provide some comfort to share our losses with others like us who understand what we are feeling and going through.
also died from that poison Agent Orange when he was in Vietnam.
I know that when we got married 38yrs ago he always said that he
thought he would be lucky to make it to 50yrs because of Agent Orange. Well thank goodness he did live till 68yrs, but the last 10yrs of his life was mainly about cancer/chemo/radiation.
I love & miss him so !!!!!
She went in to the hospital on a Tuesday and was gone the next Tuesday.

We were together 14 years. We had our hard times and good times. We raised 3 wonderful children. He was my 3rd marriage and as the saying goes; 3rd time was a charm! He was everything to me.
He helped me heal from past abusive marriages, earned the title of "dad", made sure I smiled every day no matter how bad it got (making some priceless memories), and loved me unconditionally.
My life is so empty now. I try to be grateful every day for the love we share. So many friends have said they wished they had what we did. He was amazing and perfectly imperfect...my best friend,my love, my husband, and awesome father.
Mine was longer, Nov 26, 2006. (Thanksgiving week). Three months prior we had a family reunion, Both families came to Fl and we all had rooms on the beach. Bob enjoyed that reunion more than anyone knew. We also celebrated our 40th anniversary in September. The Monday before Thanksgiving we had the turkey thawing in the refrigerator, camera set and we went shopping to Home Depot for plants. For some reason I wanted to add a Christmas flair to the holiday and he helped me find Christmas cactus and a mixed flowering plant with a pointsettia in the center. When we got hone in the house he went to another room to put the TV on and i heard him coughing very loudly. By the time i got to where he was he had a massive stroke. The children were called to come home to Fl. By the third day at the hospital the tests showed that he would not recover. It was either take him to a nursing home where he would live on a trach, a feeding tube and a breathing machine, or take him to Hope Hospice.
He had told me over and over to never let him live by artificial means. We went to Hope Hospice on Friday. The children stayed on and off at Hospice. I never left. On Sunday,
When he was dying, the children stood by quietly grieving. They lowered his bed and I knelt on the floor next to him and placed my lips on his. I knew he would want that. I felt his last breath. It was the saddest day of my entire life. He was 68. He was the Love of My Life.
We lived in Washington state. Very unexpected. He was driving a rental car with his elderly aunt with him. While missing a telephone pole by inches they ended up in a corn field, and she was ok.
