Time for a Roll Call?

Hi Everybody,


Once in awhile in the past we have done a Roll Call post to see who is here and why/how we got here.  It's been sometime since we did one, and I thought now might be a good time to let others know you're here and why. That and apparently we're back up to 2,000 members!

Please don't post any last names or your kids' names - those should be kept private for your safety - this is a public forum.


I will start:

I am Cliffskat, my name is Martha, I lost my husband Cliff to an unexpected heart attack in November 2007.  He was only 55, I was only 50 when he died.  We had just celebrated being together for 30 years.  I joined DS a couple weeks after he died.  I became a "Community Leader" or "CL" for short in March of 2011.  My friends from those early days have mostly moved on with their lives, but I remember them with great affection and gratitude for the help and understanding they gave me.  I stayed to help others get through their losses like they helped me.  I met my new husband in this group (he is a widower), and we married in 2010.  I moved from Florida to England as my new husband is British (and a fellow CL here).  I also have two beautiful autistic sons.  My life looks nothing like it did before I lost Cliff.  But it is good for the most part.

Call me Scott or Scottie. Just don't call me Ishmael or late for dinner :) My Juanita departed on May 8, 2015 about 2 weeks after our 30th wedding anniversary. Pancreatic cancer took her down, 4 months from diagnosis to death. I was 57 and she was just getting ready to turn 67 but never made it to her birthday. All of it has shaken me to my core and took me to a bottom I didn't think possible to find a way out of. But I've let this whole painful experience change and mold me into a far better person than I was before. Most likely, I think I was always too black and white, now I guess I'd color myself gray. Went pretty wild for an old guy this past year, but got it out of my system now, I think. Many many heroes and heroins here have helped me beyond belief, and for that I thank you all.

Hi, I'm Jenny and I lost the love of my life Oct 29, 2016 due to complications of heart bypass surgery. Things are OK, but will never be the same. I miss him so much.

I'm Karla from South Dakota. I lost my husband Glenn on June 30, 2014 right before our 27th anniversary and 6 months after his dad's passing. They both died of sudden heart attacks. Glenn was 55 and I was 52.

Hi, I'm Beth. My husband of 29 years died on 4/8/2017. He was only 54 and I'm 52. Every single day is a struggle. I miss him so much and don't know how I'm going to get through this pain. I'm so glad I found this site because reading all the posts helps.

I'm Lynn. I lost my husband Sean Friday,May 13,2016 from a heart attack related to renal failure,he was only 47. We would have celebrated our 13th anniversary in July. Forever and a day was how we signed everything to each other. Miss him terribly.

I lost my 58 yr old husband 2 years ago from a heart attack. He collapsed while on a treadmill. He did everything right health wise and it didn't matter. I still cry everyday.
