Today I feel grateful. Grateful for my dog Blue (Blue Jean Baby Queen, Prettiest girl I've ever seen). Grateful I'm still kickin'. Grateful I'm finally taking responsibility for my health. Grateful I own my home. Grateful for good friends and neighbors who watch over me. Grateful to God for His everlasting love and patience with me. Grateful I survived the 10 years since my wife of 30 years passed. And I am grateful for Daily Strength where I can openly share with people who don't judge, can understand and where we all can help guide one another through life. Wow, it's not even Thanksgiving and here I am filled with Thanksgiving and hope!
I am nearly done with my mouth/tongue and throat cancer. The operation went well and I still have two-thirds of my tongue remaining. My lympth nodes were removed. My speech continues to improve (reading speech therapy books online helped alot). The final step will be radiation treatments which will begin in April. But first I had to get dentist clearance which required five teeth to be pulled, not fun but necessry). I also had 2 cavities, the first which was filled today. I begin radiation treatment in April (just to make sure any cancer remaining after the operation is erradicated. I will be certain to post if I begin glowing in the dark :) Even with good insurance, my co-pays for surgery, medicines, dental work and everything else has significantly reduced my savings but I thank God I had enough to pay. My plan had been to buy another car. But now I will be keeping my 2-seater sports car until I am unable to operate the stick shift and clutch. That is a good thing because my dog Blue has sat in the passenger seat next to me for the 10 years I've had her and the car. She goes with me nearly everywhere I drive. And I think she would be pissed if I ever got another rig.
I've lived a life of blessings and am happy to stick around until Jesus calls me home.

There are a few old staffers left at my job but most of my team is completely new. I feel like I can't express my work grief to the management or HR. My work grief is compounded by many deaths in my personal life over the last 3 years, so of course I talked to AI about 80% of my coworkers quitting and now working with mostly new staff:GOOGLE AI RESPONSE:What you are feeling is a very real,...

Actually, our Governor called a State of Emergency. I pray that my electric doesn't go out. I had already planned to stay home all weekend to recuperate from a cold and do online training for my job. That will take many hours. I am worried for the outside kitties. I hope your weekend goes better for you.

I have not been on this site in ages. How refreshing to see that you posted an update on your life. I see your posting was done in March, and I hope that you have done well with your radiation treatments. You probably don't remember me, but I always enjoyed your postings from years ago. Some of your descriptions of your life scenarios made me laugh! It is good to see that you still have Blue. Praying for you. Roxanne
Glad to read you are well! I did finish 31 radiation treatments. Not fun but necessary. Lost my sense of taste and nearly all my beard but remain too stubborn to throw in the towel. I am hoping they will schedule a PET scan soon and pray for a cancer free diagnosis. I remain too stubborn to give up :-) I take Blue for a daily drive which she lives for. My brother who lives in Missouri (I am in WA State) told me a good joke recently: Why do they call us grown ups? Because when we get up, we groan! Take care of yourself and Houston!
