I have a pillow in my bed that is like the same size as her and sometimes I wake up having a heart attack because I feel the pillow and think its her (I AM NOT INTO CO-SLEEPING) and i freak out thinking OMG HOW DID SHE GET IN THE BED! then I realize it's just a pillow lol! I have done the same thing with the dog...like our 3rd night home I was like repeatedly asking my husband who he was holding in bed...i thought he picked the baby up out of her bassinet and put her in the bed....ya it was just the dog lol
she truly is a good baby....she doesnt cry unless she is hungry most of the day....she does get fussy after like 9pm and only wants momma ....she is fine w me during those times but no one else can hold her during "the witching hours" or she will cry...she also likes to get into her Halo Sleeper Sack around that time too or she is fussy.
Jmommy- Our daughter is the same way! She's like a strong bean- long and skinny!
But on a good note I had made myself a promise or threat or responsibility of taking Trey's pics every Wed (since he was born on a Wed). I figured if I had this plan then I would be more diligent about tracking his life and having a good memory of it. Well yesterday we had our first mini session and it went well, I think I got some good shots. I think for Christmas presents I'm gonna make photo albums for my mom and dad, maybe for a couple other ppl too. And with the good deals that Shutterfly has, it should be relatively cheap to do.
It made me want a new camera though. The one we have is pretty good, but a little on the older side and if things go well with the new business venture we are taking on then I might talk hubby into a better one, definitely not professional quality, but something on the higher end. Plus since we take a lot of pictures of our cattle throughout the year in order to sell them, then we could make this a tax write off. :)
Yesterday we focused a little more on tummy time. How does that go for you guys?? He HATES it without being propped on something, but he's never gonna really build his arms up or learn to roll over/crawl if he won't be straight on the ground. OOoopps he's fussing, better go.
Brenna hated tummy time until around 3.5 months. Like, she literally screamed her head off. It work a little better if I used the boppy to prop her up but not much. She loved laying on her back and believe me, she learned to roll! She's just now better at tummy time because she can push herself on her back and roll around everywhere. She's just past 4 months now. Don't worry mama- do the best you can!
And it's nice to know that other babies don't like tummy time at his age.
We do tummy time on occasion, but only when he's in a good mood. He'll tolerate it for a little while, but gets frustrated eventually. Sometimes he'll fall asleep that way, and it's so friggin cute, because he's usually got one or both arms up under his head or a hand in his mouth. I'll tell ya a great way to get him to use his neck muscles, but not get so pissed, is laying on his belly on daddy's chest. Kevin leans back in his recliner and lays Prescott on his chest, so he's elevated a little and he's comfy on daddy's soft belly. :) He'll lift his head up to look at daddy, and he's been doing it since week one! He's getting really strong, and can keep it up for a pretty long time now. So we do that way more than tummy time.
I actually googled how much he should be eating the other day and found a good website that listed a bunch of different milestones. I can't remember the name of the site now, but it was one of the top ones on the list that came up on google. I found it very helpful.
Sorry about your period. :( I thought about going back on the pill, just so I wouldn't have to have one! But we're planning on trying for a second in about a year, so I figured I could tough it out for that long. :)
I did some googling today about what things can/should be done with a 3 month old. Since I was never one to babysit or spend time with infants, I really don't know what you should/can do with them to help with development. Basically I'm on the right track though from what I found out today. I guess I just want to make sure he's stimulated enough, but not too much, etc etc. Sometimes I feel bad when I let him sleep so long, but that's what they do. And I have to realize that it's good for them to entertain themselves - just feels kinda weird to leave him asleep or playing on his mat while I do other stuff. But I do interact with him a lot when he's awake - just feel out of my element sometimes since I'm not a "kid person" by nature.
wooo that turned into a RANT lol
Anyways baby is doing good...I went to the docs yesterday because i totally knew thrush was starting....was having sharp pains ....started probiotics and he gave me a cream (i dont have to breakdown or anything)...he said it looks like it is JUST starting so it should go away quickly since I caught it before symptoms even really started....i havent seen anything in her mouth and he said he didnt think she needed treatment but to keep an eye on her mouth but i am going to message her doc anyways just to be sure.....that doc probably thinks i am a worrier because this is the 3rd time i have emailed her questions in the past 3 weeks lol ....
I have to put some of her NB stuff away because they dont fit anymore :( ....we are still in NB diapers which I thought were getting to small on her so I switched to size 1 when the NB ran out but they were so big so i went to the store and got more NB ones but she does leak a little out the side with poops..I think the probiotics are making her extra poopy lol ...i bought luvs which have worked great prior ( i didnt really notice a difference between pampers, huggies, and luvs) but now that she is almost out of that size the luvs seems not as good so i may have to get pampers until we get to size 1....i have an entire closest full of size 1 from my shower so it wil be awhile until i have to buy any of them.
i found an awesome website that is a wealth of knowledge.... www.kellymom.com < seriously an awesome site!
Tell your DH to shove it, btw. I was originally gonna take my full 12 weeks too, 4 of which would have been without pay. I knew Kevin would give me grief about it, but I also knew he wouldn't dare try to tell me I couldn't. I decided to go back at the end of 8 wks though (Monday, ugh), because I'm ready to get back into some sort of routine and have some adult interaction. Plus I only work PT, so it won't be that bad for me.
So first plan of attack is to get him to start napping in his crib during the day. Got this accomplished - it was a little rough. He cried for about 10 minutes (mostly just the whiney/fussy), I went and soothed him when it got more violent and laid him back down. It two times of picking him up/soothing him before he fell asleep on my shoulder and I laid him back down and he's out.
I can't decide if I'm ok with the cry it out method or not. There are times when he's so overly tired that he just fusses and won't sleep unless you let him cry, but it's mostly that whiney/fussy, so I don't feel so bad. But I've never let him scream for long periods of time to see if he will eventually fall asleep. Just don't have the heart to do that.
Hopefully my method of a week or so of napping in the crib will make night time crib use a little easier. Will definitely be looking for a mobile or music soother this weekend.
