Before we met, my husband was wrongfully convicted of electronic solicitation of a minor and was set up by a police sting operation. Now, he is almost off of parole & we are looking to relocate. We are currently in the midwest and do not feel like this is the best place for us.
We want to find a fresh start somewhere and go to a state that could give us the most healthy and productive lives possible, given our situation. Are there states that are better than others for RSOs to live in? We are just thinking about the different laws each state has regrading RSOs, opportunities for employment, housing etc.
Thank you very much & my heart really hurts for all of you who have also been affected by this label & this broken justice system. Good luck to you all.

This isn't really bipolar related but there is never anyone on the parenting groups, this is the most active group I've been in.My 6yr old son has really bad seasonal allergies and they're in full force right now. He gets a terrible cough; he coughs all day and all night, making it hard for him to sleep, and his nose runs.I've tried every allergy medicine, OTC and RX, and none of them affect his...

Is anyone here allergic to Sulfa that is currently taking Diamox? I have been diagnosed with IH now for almost 2 years. I am allergic to Sulfa drugs meaning that my throat will swell up so my Neurologist put me on Topamax. I was suffering from major loud whoosing noises and the topamax helped that but everyday I still hear those mainly between 6 - 12 pm. I am at my wits end and have not went...

Yes, it is fair..Look at it like this... Your son had adjudication withheld which basically means, if he behaves himself, his charge will 'go away',even though he was convicted of a felony, SO, if he moved to my state and they decided the judge was wrong and he is once again a felon..Is that fair? No, of course not... Is it fair that if I move to FloriDUH I would be required to register for life even though Dec 2014, I no longer have to register? No, of course not..A State Judge ordered that I register for 10 yrs, should I be forced to register for life without due process? Isn't that what we all fight for?? You see? When your son was sentenced, the Judge did order him to register as a n SO..The Judge had the authority to relieve him of registration at all..
Do I recall that you are/were a history teacher? Please look up the difference between Federal and State's rights..Why is it that my State and many others are not SORNA compliant...It is called State's rights, the Feds can't force a state to adopt it, that is why they try to blackmail them by with holding the Byrne Grant money..
"I know you are just trying to help".. Please don't try to 'Patronize" me because I am just a dumb brainwashed conservative who decided that serving his Country was more important than going to college and being indoctrinated by 'LibTard' professors who, like our current,(sigh) POTUS, have never lived in the real world....I am willing to bet that you were 'Bad Mouthing" MY Country long before your son got in trouble.
Now, I have been as polite as I intend to be, and you will be happy to know that this is the last time i will ever waste my time responding to one of your posts, what's the point? If I said the sky is blue, you'd say it was pink...
What Coastie said is correct, states are sovereign from the federal government, they can make their own rules for the citizens that reside within their boarders, based on what they believe their citizens want/need. That is why some states are SORNA compliant and the rest are not.
As far as leaving the deceased on the registries, well we all know that they are bloated, the states complain that it costs so much to maintain those registries. The result is what you are seeing, people not being removed because the process that is in place to remove people is inadequate or even non-existent. Which then leads to what we have today.
Coastie, no one slammed you for who you are or what your views are. I too am conservative, and did not see a comment that was intended to begrudged you because of your conservative views. We are here to vent our frustrations against the system...let's stick to that.
