PA is not too bad either. There's no state residency restrictions but I think some towns have them. No access restrictions either but they are AWA compliant so my hubby went from 10 years to lifetime based on his accuser's she claimed to be at the time she claimed the incident happened. I'm hoping that there will be a challenge to it like there has been in other states. Other than that, hubby is off probation, and can do as he pleases

I posted early this morning but it isn't showing up. My son gets out tomorrow and from what I am being told Henderson/Las Vegas would be the place to go. Lots of construction and Siegal Suites will rent him an apt they don't do back ground checks. My son has no place to stay in Mn and I am in Az I feel helpless and his father passed away a yr ago. I am also moving my other son and 2 grandkids in with me. I left the choice up to my other son to stay there or take the bus out here but I don't think I can have him live with me with the grandkids. His sex offense was dismissed but they did charge him with kidnapping which requires registering.

If he is not on probation Las Vegas shouldn't be a problem. AZ is terrible! My husband has been on probation for 10 years and it is a nightmare. I would check into Las Vegas. I know he only has 24 hours to register in Nevada. That is pretty extreme it is 72 hours in AZ. If he is not on probation he could live with you in AZ if needed.

I just worked 20 straight days and am too tired to post a link or two, I will when I get the time, but in a nutshell,what ever the state, if the sentencing Judge's order says lifetime, Utah honors the Judge's order and if you think about it, it is quite fair, you may not like it, but if you think seriously about it, it is fair......Utah is the REDDEST state in the Country, BUT, is NOT SORNA compliant and i doubt it will ever be compliant....(Mormons have a history of distrusting the Feds.)

Is that why Utah is such a good state? Because they aren't SONAR compliant? Can the government ever make them be? Hubby has only 9 more years in the registry because it happened before 2006.

My son will not be on parole or probation but my fear is having my 2 grandkids living here what child protective services might do as they are ages 9 & 14 and the 14 yr old has autism . They love their uncle. I absolutely do not trust my other sons ex or her family on what they could think up, they are really evil people. And I worry about him getting back into drugs here he says he won't and I want to believe him but do I take that risk? I am so torn as to what to do. He's 35 and needs to be working and here there just isn't any work. I don't trust the PD here either he has to register for 10 years this is really going to be a trial. I lost my husband a yr ago and this is one thing I never thought we would be facing. I also worry about my job as I am in Real Estate no job we all sink.

I understand your fears. I'm a retired special ed teacher and just having autism is difficult on families. You can not trust the AZ police department or protective services. Just make sure he does register in Nevada ASAP and give him as much support as possible. I don't know that much about Nevada and not crazy about Las Vegas but Henderson could work out especially if he can find work. My girlfriend's husband liked to work construction in Nevada because it is a union state a his pay was better than AZ. Good luck, I hope it all works out.

I wonder if it could be different for my son Coastie. It was not really a judge’s order – it is just the rules in Florida. Everyone is life on the registry – there are no tiers. Also he was adjudication withheld and I wonder if another state will look at that differently. And I know you are trying to help but I have to say that actually no I do not think that is fair. A long time ago right after the Revolutionary War provisions were made by the Founders that no one would be treated differently from state to state. In other words, you cannot treat a person from WV differently when he comes to SC. That would be like if I drove across the country charging me FL gas prices the whole way because I am from Florida. Oh well, a long time ago I wrote a letter to someone at a state RSO website asking the same question – it has been 3 years but I am going to see if I saved the message.

I moved to PA so my son, who is now in FL will be released here in Jan. There are no residency restrictions. They tried but the supreme court here said it was unconstitutional. We already had probation come out and they approved our home.
Since he was sentenced in FL hes on the registry for life.
He accidentally downloaded cp thru LimeWire. We have his proof in forensics but he had to plead out. He's ready to fight it here as well.

It is 48 hours in Nevada so that is a little bit better and weekends don't count for registration. I am trying to reread the registration conditions. We were going to vacation there once so I learned a bit about the state. He may just have to register in AZ for 10 years but most people convicted here is for life. In AZ there is a survey the police department fill out from the city he wants to live which is biased. They love to put level 2 down after completing the survey so fliers are sent out in the neighborhood to say a sex offender lives on the block and that is a terrible experience. Each city is different my husband was a level one in Phoenix off the Internet and a level two on the Internet when we moved out of the city. He may be ok if the girl wasn't underage. I am checking Nevada again to see if it is lifetime registration. Just learn all the facts before he moves. MN. is better then either state. I will let you know if I find out anything. Check to see if there is a Nevada RSOL group that could help. They would know more then me.

This North Dakota site sounds like if a SO moves there they assess that person and assign a risk level - then they would follow ND law? Most people in ND are not on the public list

Take that back AZ is lifetime. In Nevada they asses and if he is level one, it is ten years, level two, 15 years, and level three, lifetime. Advocate is a little better on reading these things then I am. He would know.
