Our prayers are with you and your son today - you're right! They are ALWAYS your children, no matter what and it is hard to see them suffer when we feel powerless to help them.
Keep calling/ keep searching. Somewhere there will be a compassionate person who realizes that he can't be pulled into court when he is in so much pain.
Again, our thoughts and prayers are with you today.
I am so sorry they are acting in such an unprofessional manner.
BUT, document EVERYTHING regarding your son's medical treatment. Keep a log of when he arrived there, what meds he is taking, when they stopped giving him his meds, when you called to complain, what they said, WHO you talked to, and what the result was. If anything happens, you will need this.
I am hoping that they drop the charges in Montana since he already has charges in anther state.
rewdiazepam
Our thoughts and prayers are with you. Hope he will get his meds soon.
@rewdiazepam, I do try to document everything, and I told him to keep complaining until they do something for him. I'm going to call his lawyer from the court case here and ask if they can fax his medical info to the Montana facility, but that's not until Monday.
I've hoping that they drop the charges in Montana, but even his lawyer here in NY State said it's not likely.
Oh, and I still do not have POA. The form he sent me was not notarized, I sent it back to him but they moved him before he could get it, and Montana charges $5 for the notary, and his commissary money is god only knows where.
When I leave for work in the morning it will be 7 am there so chief probably won't be in yet. I am going to call the US Marshall's office, because he is supposed to be in their custody. I am also going to call the head of DOC Medical Services. What have I got to lose????
Might be time to write a letter. Next step will be a lawyer.
I called the facility where my son is being held this morning. Mindy in the medical department told me that yes, the have received his medical records. When I asked her how soon he would be getting his much needed meds, she said not until the NP looked at the records, she will be in tomorrow. Well, that would be 7 days without his meds. I didn't loose my temper, I simply said okay thank you. I hung up and immediately called back and asked to talk to the Captain, I had to leave him a voice mail. I very calmly explained the situation to him in the message. He called me back this afternoon and told me that the NP came in today, (coincidence, that she came in a day early, not likely) checked his records and he will be getting his Imodium twice a day, his fiber they had to order. He had gotten to the point that he stopped eating. Now he will be able to eat again. :)
Okay, a little background info. My son has emphysema, marfans syndrome, and IBS, and he is extremely lactose intolerant. They won't give him the inhalers he is supposed to be on (because of cost), but they do have him on a different inhaler (better than nothing). He is also supposed to take an Imodium tablet twice a day and fiber tablet twice a day. Without those 2 meds to keep his IBS in check, everything he eats gives him cramps and sends him running to the bathroom. The thing that is so half assed backward; first; out of the 4 places he has been, they are the first to insist on medical records. Second; they gave him an inhaler (something you need a prescription for) but would not give him his over the counter meds without his medical records. WTF is all I can say.
What worries him is that the judge read his charges out loud. There were two other guys in the room from his facility. He asked the one to say anything, the young man replied, "hey your stuff is your business and no body else s, I won't say a word" but he's not sure if the other guy heard anything. He also found out that apparently Missoula does have an SO section (no idea why he is not being housed there), but the place he is supposed to go to between court dates does not. Also, we are both a bit confused, apparently his 4 conspiracy charges are down to 1, conspiracy to advertise cp. No idea why, not arguing, but no idea why.
