Well, I managed to get my fish oil & get things moving again... but still no weight loss! I weighed in today at 172 lbs. It seems like the more I exercise, the more weight I gain. So frustrating!! I'm taking today off from both exercising and calorie counting and see what happens tomorrow!
Congrats on the weight loss Shy!
Raymh, I think you maybe right about retaining water! I have increased my water intake, but I have been eating lots of salty foods. I am going to look up some natural diuretics and hope that helps.
Thanks Simba! I'm super pumped! I just don't know if I should go down more or stay here for a bit. I'm just taking it one day at a time.
It's frustrating when we see a weight gain. This can happen often but, I think, yours might be due to the serious exercises you're doing. Muscle weighs more than fat! I think that's why I never exercised.... I wanted to lose the weight purely on diet alone. But now I have to incorporate exercise into my routine! I guess all that gardening I've been doing has been great exercise.... now I have to continue with the light gardening and getting to the gym.
IF I do anymore heavy duty gardening, It won't be until the fall.
Anyways, Simba, I think you have the right attitude! You are increasing your water intake and giving yourself a break from the exercise. That's fantastic! Too many people would see the number go up and get frustrated and eat... they figure the weight is only going up so might as well eat since what you're doing is not working! However, the right attitude is to do exactly what you're doing. You're not giving up but rather changing things up in the right way to get things moving again.
Good luck with finding a natural diuretic!
today i have made masala dosa with sambhar, coconut and garlic chuteny, kheer (indian sweet, made with milk, sugar and wheat noodles, cashew, saffron etc) and it tastes awesome, i have been good and had only 2 masala dosas in whole day and only one bowl of kheer, lets see what happens tomorrow
@shy-- wow 139 lbs, u r progressing towards ur goal of 135 lbs, and u r right about the diet plan
@simba-- yes plz take a break and have dry sweets like laddoo (or similar western sweets) u will get the whoosh effect
Raymh..... good for you! Seeeeeeeeeee???????? Just stick to it and you will see the weight fall off. I'm so proud of you. Hang in there and, before you know it, you'll be looking fantastic for the wedding.
OMG!!!!
Masala dosa?????
I've had the pleasure of having this off and on during my teenage years.... whenever we went to an area know as little India. I think the last time I had it was waaaay over five years ago. (I can't remember that far.... old age, you know?)
Lucky you!
Simba, if you EVER get the opportunity to try this South Indian staple, do it! You would not be disappointed. It's like an orchestra to your mouth! Unbelievable......
Great. Now I want some. I REALLY want some.
I'm not so sure that my kids would like it since they haven't been exposed to it since they were really little. My fault totally for not keeping up with it as they grew up. But.... I moved farther away from the restaurant where they make it authentic. It's now over two hours away.
Ummm.... with the sambhar and coconut chutney. Very authentic. Okay... now I'm drooling.
Keep up the great work. I'm proud of both of you and soon you'll be at the same place I'm at.
For the past 2 days I did not count calories or exercise. I'm still at 172 lbs. I think I know why I am retaining water...PMS! I had cramps yesterday & today. I don't understand why when I just had TOM two weeks ago. This has happened to me before and my doctor said it is peri-menopause. I am in my early 40's so I guess my body is going through some changes. I am going back to counting calories today. Hopefully the scale will start moving again soon!
Still maintaining at 138.5 lbs
Going to do some gardening today.... getting seed down mainly because we're in for some rain and thunderstorms. Yippee. I love the proper spring weather. We need it to get things growing.
Simba, early 40's seems too young to be going through peri-menopause. Then again, my SIL actually went through menopause in her mid 30's. She was one of those rare ones.
As long as your doctor believes that is what's going on then fine. But... still keep a check on it.
LOL. At least you know why you've been holding on to that weight. I'm glad that you didn't fall off the wagon and think 'what's the point? No matter what I'm doing I'm just gaining.' Good for you for staying true.... there's always a reason as to what's going on.
Here's hoping that when TOM is over you will be in the mid-160's!
@Raymh: Where are you? Hope everything is going fine with you and that your weight is steadily going downhill.
I weighed in today at 172 lbs AGAIN. My body loves 172 lbs...it seems this is the number it always rests at. TOM has never arrived, so I am going to have count the 3 lbs as traditional weight gain. When I got down to 169 lbs, I was very restrictive with my calories. I guess I am going to have to go back to that...wish me luck!
Congrats to both of you ladies on your weight loss!
Finally got the scale to move! Increased my fat intake with healthy oils...had a great cleansing effect. And took a long walk yesterday...down to 171 lbs.
@SIMBA-- that's really good for u, gr8, i am very happy for u
@shy-- 138.5 lbs maintenance is very good because u have margin of 1.5 lbs
yesterday i ate more then my allowance
10 may 2013-- 87.2 kg
i want to tell both of u that this small group of three has become a part of my life and i wait eagerly to post some good loss, and in my efforts to lose weight this group is the biggest support i have, thank u both of u sweeties.
Wow, fantastic, Simba! I knew you could do it! It's funny how our bodies respond to a little tweak here and there!
I have absolutely no doubt that you are going to break out into the 160's soon and stay there. It's downhill from here, baby! lol
We always need these 'setbacks' to help us gain focus and realize what the ultimate goal is.
Don't worry... you'll make your goal!
Raymh: As I just said to Simba, we learn from our 'mistakes' and know what the consequences will be. It's up to us to learn from them and choose wisely next time. And so what if you want to eat more than you should once in a while? NOW you know that you can easily lose it by just following your plan.
This small group also means a lot to me! I look forward to your posts and hope that I 'help' in any way.
I also lie to post my successes and failures.... if only to learn from them and to give hope to you guys.
Even though I've reached my goal (or almost there if I make it 135.0 lbs), I feel as if I belong here. I'm not leaving just because I've attained my goal. We're in this together and, together, we can help eachother to be the best we can be.
May 10
I went up 0.5 lbs! I'm now 139.0 bs. I've been eating well. I'm getting in what I should be and, sometimes, I've had to guess at the amount to eat for certain foods......
I've been kinda wondering why the scale hasn't been shifting. Then again, I'm not really trying...
I've been happy to maintain my weight and I've lost 2.5 lbs in a week!
Then I knew! It's TOM. That makes a lot of sense.
I did't even have any symptoms.... strange.
Oh... I probably can't feel the symptoms because of the excruciating pain I'm in for the last day and a half! Apparently I have an infection in my eye..... a stye! I've never had one in my life and it's quite painful. I'm on antibiotic drops for it. However, it seems to look worse today than it did yesterday!
I've been taking pain killers so that the pain is tolerable!
Ouch.
Congrats on the weight loss Shy!
Raymh, I think you maybe right about retaining water! I have increased my water intake, but I have been eating lots of salty foods. I am going to look up some natural diuretics and hope that helps.
Still holding at 139.5 lbs

8th may-- 87.6 kg
Still 138.5 lbs ... not really trying to lose weight seriously
@Simba: Good luck with being restrictive... I hope you break out of that 172 forever! Once you crack it, say goodbye forever.
@Raymh: I see the steady and consistent weight loss. Good for you. Before you know it, you'll be in the low 80's. Keep it up.
