Had my first coffee of the day, now to relax for a bit before actually getting up and doing some things. Pain is up there but I'm tolerating it so far; company coming tonight so hope it doesn't get too much worse as the day goes on (but it usually does)

I could really use a hug Im feeling frustrated, sad, helpless, scared, because I had the lami and discectomy a month ago and Im still having pain. I went to the surgeon last week (they fit me in- I am so grateful for them) and he ordered an MRI for this past tues. well I got sick and have been coughing like crazy so I couldnt go and now I am getting it next week.

I just hate being in so much pain (dont we all nothing like stating the obvious :)), and Im running low on meds and terrified he wont give me more, and I am so afraid something is wrong and until this gets fixed we cant even think of starting to try to conceive and there are no words to express how horrible and scary that is.. i would give anything, *anything* to have a baby. ok so thats me sending all of you big hugs and hoping your pain will go away

You ARE the employer. A physician is nothing but a Technical Consultant who offers specific advice for a specific problem.

Why are you scared when YOU are his boss? He/she needs us or they get no cash.

If he refuses to be compassionate, here is what one does: Say, "You are fired" and add him to that list we all keep: DTA - Doctors to Avoid. Then you hire a new Technical Consultant who is compassionate.

I'm having one of those nights...awake when I should be sleeping. It would a good time to tackle some of the holiday baking/candy making that I haven't felt well enough start.

Unfortunately....I'm not awake because I feel great.

Well, maybe something can happen that will make you so NOT in pain.

I get it, I have an infected foot, a broken toe (can't see the surgeon till next Wednesday) and while this is not even close to what you are suffering, You ARE NOT ALONE.

Thank you so, so much. Lami/discectomy is surgery to repair a herniated disc (which also serves the purpose of alleviating the sciatica caused by the material coming out of the disc pressing on the nerve). They go in and move the muscles and bone out of the way (thats the lami) and then removed the material that came out of the disc when it ruptured, which turned out to be the size of a golf ball- no wonder I was in so much pain!

for the first two weeks after the surgery, my lower back hurt like hell from the surgery itself, but the sciatic pain down my right side was gone. Then my back got at least somewhat better, but the sciatica returned with a vengeance. I will keep you updated.. I hope so much that you all find swift, complete, and permanent relief from your pain, and you are all in my thoughts.
