I just cannot stop thinking and crying!

I posted a few weeks back that my wife, my HS sweetheart had moved out and asked me for a divorce. We were married 16 years, together for nearly 28, since we were 17. She moved out on 1/15/16, and 2 weeks later asked for a divorce. Since then shes been so cold to me, like I mean nothing to her. Seems from reading thats what happens when someone makes up their mind up to leave. While its hard to understand how someone can do that, I guess its better than being lead on that there may be hope, like she did for the 19 months leading up to this.
Anyway the court date for the divorce is next Thursday, 4/14 and it will all be over. All the years with the only women I have truly loved will be done and I will be forced to try and start over. I am so scared and dreading this day, so much so that all I think about is blowing me head off so I dont have to face it. I am starting to scare myself a bit as the feelings of impending doom are getting stronger by the day, and I keep telling myself I will not die divorce. Along with those thoughts are thoughts of all the great years and times we had together, I find myself frequently crying throughout the day. Its really having a toll on everything I do as its like a debilitating disease. Why cant I remember the past 19 months and how I fought like crazy to save our marriage and my wife just pushed away until she got the courage to leave? Some of the things she said and done during this time was just so out of character for her, just mean, insensitive and somewhat demoralizing. Yet I cannot or chose not to remember these times! WHY?????
Im really not sure what to do at this point. I have no family, the few friends I have are either married or live in another State. In the 11+ weeks that shes been gone I really havent done much other than work, sleep and drink a bit too much. I hate the weekends as I do nothing, when I do, do something its alone and I find myself looking at other people to see if their alone, or even wearing a wedding band as I want to feel there are other people out there like me (single). I know there are, but to me I cannot see it, it feels like all I see are happy couples and they are all looking at me strange because Im alone and quietly saying what a loser. I do try and do things but either back out or do the same old boring, repetitive things. I guess part of the reason for that is anywhere I go I have memories of her / us, I cannot seems to find new places to go or things to do. Its like I dont know what I like anymore, like Ive lost my identity.
Not sure what Im looking to hear by writing this, maybe just a shoulder to cry on as the tears just wont stop. Maybe once the divorce is finalized Ill start to feel better, who knows. Let hope so and lets hope I make it so that day!
Well everyone thanks for listening and I hope youre having a better day then I am.

I'm horrified! I knew my insurance would go up due to getting a new car but I didn't expect it to go up over $2,000. I did have an accident with the snow/ice in the winter. I was just telling my brother that I have had my car since March 2, 2026 and have only spent $75 on an oil change. Now this! I called another insurance company and their quote was over $4,000. I guess I have to pay...

We all have 24 hours in a day. How we spend these hours is important. Watching a little bit of a video about how sitting affects us made me aware of how much sitting and laying down I do. Gonna have to work on that.Your turn. Tell me another truth.
GREAT responses and advice!
I am SO sorry you are going through this! However! Your dog will NEVER leave you! Do NOT let her take your dog! She can visit he/she or take he/she out, but make certain that YOU keep your dog in the divorce! Part of the reason for my recent long-term relationship breakup is because of my dog. She cannot fully love and accept my dog for everything she is and is very jealous of her.
She has her own dog, but her dog not nearly like mine,
Sounds like you are doing better and please post often!
Look, you are going to feel overwhelmed. Grief is a bugger of an emotion. Utterly debilitating. "Just do it" works. But trying to do it all can overwhelm. For me, I had a Lazer focus on the things I absolutely needed to achieve. I wrote them down and they pulled me thru dark times. Now, I wish I had put the gym on that list. But, regardless, a short list of things you really care about and want to be intact when you come out of this dark tunnel. Then, go on autopilot and "just do it". And, cut yourself slack on everything else.
Finally - just know that so many of us have felt that debilitating grief. Unfortunately, it is very normal. For me, it was better at the 1 year mark - manageable. Somewhere around the 17 month mark I have a bit of a revelation during a run and moved out of grief stage. Now at the 22 month mark, I am almost back to myself. I am standing just inside the tunnel --- and the light is right there.
you will get. It takes time. Know what you want, focus on it, and be kind to yourself.
My divorce will be final on April 15 (after 15 years). Yes she cheated with a married man then he left her. She is chasing the clubbing and all the fun of a college sorority girl at the age of 40. Tinder is he favorite app on her phone, and she brags to me how she can get free meals from guys at sports bars. She loves our children but is so wrapped up in her own narcissistic wants that she can go days without calling them. I have primary custody. She if offended that her actions and dating while we are still married hurts me as it is excusable in her case because she needs to find her happiness.
You sound like a great guy and I hope you find comfort and support in these fantastic responses in this thread.Honestly, I feel better about owning a man-card after reading all these posts. What is up with these women we've been investing our lives in? Know what? They suck and we don't. (Excuse my stepping into a younger way of stating the obvious.) High fives to you all! This is the support I need to read and honestly I can't wait to see how everyone progresses.
Anyway tomorrow is "D" day, it's sucks! 28 years of history gone just like that. So damn sad to think today will be the last day I am married to the women I love so deeply!
I seem to be doing "ok" the past few days, maybe I'm in shock this is actually happening or maybe just trying to build up strength for tomorrow.
Also on Monday I went out a purchased a new car, I needed one for my dog since we agreed she'd take the SUV. I got a new 2016 Hyundai Elantra GT hatchback, I cannot believe the amount of room in this car when you drop the back seats. I
Well I'll say bye for now, but will be back in the next couple of days.
Wish me luck tomorrow!

I actually felt bad for him he looked awful, he is a child of

How do I know? Last Thursday our divorce was final, on Sunday she boarded a 7 day cruise with him?!?!? WTF is wrong with people??
I thought this week was going to be a healing week, but finding this out has sent me into a downward spiral that I just cannot snap out of, I think I'm lower then at any other point in this whole process. All I can think about this week is that the women I love more then anything in this world is having a great time with her new man on a cruise (where we shared some of best memories, 14 in 16 years) and I'm sure enjoying very intimate moments.
I'm not a bad guy, what did I ever do to deserve this?
Was probably a checked out spouse
