Car Insurance Renewal

I'm horrified!  I knew my insurance would go up due to getting a new car but I didn't expect it to go up over $2,000.  I did have an accident with the snow/ice in the winter.  I was just telling my brother that I have had my car since March 2, 2026 and have only spent $75 on an oil change.  Now this!  I called another insurance company and their quote was over $4,000.  I guess I have to pay it.  I might have to borrow money.  I don't get paid again until the middle or end of September.  Well, I'll get my Social Security.  New Jersey is crazy when it comes to car insurance.  It's the worst!

It's not fair. It is common that a new car will be a higher insurance premium. Ugh!

Maybe call them and ask if you can spread payments out over the year, but without having to pay any additional interest.

I've always paid 2 times a year for my annual car insurance premium. One payment every 6 months. No interest on doing that, here in CA.

I wonder if they might let you spread out payments, maybe even once a month, 12 smaller payments in a year?

Never know unless you ask them.

Hi Girl, thanks! I might do that! There might be an extra charge though. I have Teachers Insurance through Plymouth Rock. I get a discount for working at a school $3,362 is my new bill. That's just outrageous!

Not unusual...I recently changed my insurance on home and car to Liberty Mutual...they were very reasonable

ignorance is bliss. i am blessed with a hub-a-lub who has handled the bill desk since 2016. i am blissfully ignorant of how much i pay for insurance. part of the reason i am so blissful in my ignorance is i remember all too well the stress of having to finance my insurance payments for most of the 80's, and that was 1980 dollars.

steadying support while you work out those gruesome details of car ownership. i need frequent reminding of why we love our cars so dearly.

Everyone's car insurance has skyrocketed where I live. Too many uninsured and non-licensed drivers causing accidents. Too many cars stolen or just broken into.

    If I come to DS and it won't do anything when I click "Login", I go to a post, click and then click "Leave a Reply".  Then it will let me log in.Of course, sometimes DS just goes to "Error 504".  Then I can't log in.
