My wife said she wanted a separation in January. I was very devastated. For almost 3 months I was so sad, depressed, lost, hopeless, etc... I was walking on eggshells, always thinking before saying anything or doing anything in fear that what I say or do will push her even further away or confirm that leaving me was the right decision for her to make.
I begged and pleaded for her to give our marriage one more shot. I pretty much did everything I can possibly do to make her change her mind. She gave me glimpses of hope and at times made me think things were going to work out, only to be disappointed. It was the worst 3 months of my life. Many people here told me I was being treated very unfairly and I had to start respecting myself more and to focus on me and my well being.
Last Saturday night, I finally reached my breaking point and pretty much told her how I felt, how shitty she's been treating me and told her I was no longer going to tolerate being treated like shit anymore. I even told her to move out as soon as she can, because her still living at home just made a shitty situation even shittier.
The following Sunday was a little tough, but not as tough as I thought it would be. Fast forward 5 days later, I feel 100 times better than I did the past 3 months. I am now not holding on to false hope and no longer walking on eggshells. I stopped giving a crap about being careful of what I say or do, because in my book, our marriage is over. She made sure of that! I am not going to live my life being so afraid to be myself in fear of her leaving me. Being afraid or stressing out about your spouse leaving you is no way to live! Those of you belittling yourselves for her/him, are you sure that's the kind of relationship you really want to be in?
As sad as I am about the end of our marriage, I am 100 times happier now than I was the past 3 months.
My advice, don't be a doormat and start respecting yourself and have some dignity. You're only treated as poorly as you let them treat you.
Thanks everyone for your words of encouragement, support and in some cases a huge dose of reality check!

I'm horrified! I knew my insurance would go up due to getting a new car but I didn't expect it to go up over $2,000. I did have an accident with the snow/ice in the winter. I was just telling my brother that I have had my car since March 2, 2026 and have only spent $75 on an oil change. Now this! I called another insurance company and their quote was over $4,000. I guess I have to pay...

We all have 24 hours in a day. How we spend these hours is important. Watching a little bit of a video about how sitting affects us made me aware of how much sitting and laying down I do. Gonna have to work on that.Your turn. Tell me another truth.
You need to get her out of your life ASAP
It is not fair to continue torturing you this way
As far sleep try melatonin before bed I have had great success with it. It's natural and available everywhere. Hang in there
You absolutely deserve better than being treated so badly.
It can only get better for you. Your wonderful attitude says so much, keep living for today in the direction of the future. Focus on yourself and everything you like to do.
I wish you the very best.
I personally don't believe that she was alone, but what if she's telling the truth? I mean, why lie at this point, right?
Am I wrong to think, as long as we are married and live together, I deserve the respect and dignity of knowing where my wife is until 3AM and being told the truth? Or should I just have kept my mouth shut and not have asked? I don't even know what the right thing to do is.
I would avoid unnecessary contact even within the confines of the home you currently share. Be polite but protectively distant. Ask yourself whether an action or conversation will truly benefit you before doing it.
You are in a bad situation and I feel for you. She is doing a terrible thing to you, but I hope you can keep from making it any harder on yourself than it already is.
if she is out dating now, or dating later it cant be something you get to caught up in. I say this because that will add another layer to this that will just make it so much harder. Dealing with the loss of someone you love is hard enough without adding the extra burden of wondering who else may be in her life.
I didn't want to hurt my stepdaughter's feelings, so instead of saying no, I said, "Tell your mom we are almost done and by the time she gets here, we will be pretty much leaving."
Anyway, wife was home when he got there. She was pleasant with me and asked how dinner was. Could it be that she's f'n crazy and I'm just now starting to realize this because I am looking at her in a more judgemental mind frame?
