It has been two weeks since the girl I thought was the one broke my heart. The first week I felt less anxious and relieved than I had been the last two months with her. Things felt like they were getting better and I enjoyed the time I had until this last Saturday. Just like that, it all hit me. The realization that she was no longer mine, that I can't reach out to her anymore, and how mistreated she had made me feel. Though I can see more clearly than ever how she treated me it doesn't take away how happy I was with her in the beginning. This week has been really difficult mentally as I have had really no motivation to do anything. I pushed myself to do some stuff but I mainly just wanted to sit in my dorm and watch TV.
Last night was the first time I actually broke down in tears since the breakup has happened. I could feel my emotions building up for a while but just didn't have the energy to cry until last night. It felt good to finally shed tears when I couldn't for so long. But I miss how things were between us. I then later dreamt about her that night. It made me realize something very important. I can't be friends with her. I haven't talked to her since the breakup but she said she still wanted me to be her friend. But my dream last night showed me why I couldn't. I would just be her backup, she didn't care about me in a relationship so why would she in a friendship, and I would just be an emotional tool for her to use whenever she needed someone to talk to. I can't put myself through that it would cause me too much pain. I still love her and will continue to for a while but it's just best for me to focus on myself from her on out no matter how much I want to talk to her and have her in my life. We have different views of each other and how we play a role in each other's life and I know mine is vastly different than hers.

Ever since I stopped doing therapy because of insurance, I've been feeling that old tense and irritable sense of anxiety and stress. I hate that. I was making so many strides and changes during therapy, my therapist would acknowledge all of my progress and accomplishments, and I miss that reassurance. Today I thought about it, and I made those changes! She would always tell me that I chose to...

I'm horrified! I knew my insurance would go up due to getting a new car but I didn't expect it to go up over $2,000. I did have an accident with the snow/ice in the winter. I was just telling my brother that I have had my car since March 2, 2026 and have only spent $75 on an oil change. Now this! I called another insurance company and their quote was over $4,000. I guess I have to pay...
It’s good that you were able to cry. Cry when you need to, it will help you to cope and heal. It would be great if you have someone you can talk to or feel free to post anytime. We are here for you.
I hope you will feel better soon. Take care. God bless.
Also, you write so well, why don't you keep a journal. Just for you. To write down everything you think and feel as well as dreams about what you want to do in the future and anything you want to write. Journaling helps get the feelings out.
I completely agree with you, you do NOT want to be her friend right now. She disrespected you and was talking to other guys, even when you said it bothered you. So yeah, block her number, block her on social media. It will only hurt you more to be her 'friend" and like you said, she just needs someone to talk to about her new life and why would you want that??? You will be out living YOUR fabulous new life! :)
When people break up, sometimes they just say "Let's be friends...." But they don't really mean it literally. It just relieves them of their guilt of leaving you.
So no, you are not going to be friends with someone like her. Don't forget all the bad parts of the relationship, too.
The more time apart, the more you will look back on this with some perspective.
I understand though. First loves hurt a lot. But you are only 18 years old and trust me, you will meet more girls in your lifetime.
Keep talking with friends, family. Go do fun stuff. Live your life!!
