I was driving home from the airport a few weeks ago. I had just returned from my 6 weeks of hell; trying to save my Mom from cancer and later dealing with her estate after those efforts failed. Be it God, or karma, or what, just as I pulled in the driveway a song came on the radio and I just lost it crying. It was 'You and me Against the World', by Helen Reddy. I had never even heard (or heard of) this song before. Talk about hitting home (its about a single mother and only child). Still cant get over the timing. So do any of you have a special song that hits home with respect to your loss like that?

There is a beautiful song sung by Amy Grant called "Carry You" which comforts me a lot.

I lost my grandma last month on Aug.23 and my aunt in April 2007 and the song that makes me the saddest and i cry everytime is Josh groban's to where you are. My heart breaks when i hear it. There's no song i think is prettier then this one and the lyrics are perfect. I miss you forever grandma and Jo.

"Three Times a Lady"by the Commadores was our song back in 1978 when we got married.
I also dad this song played for her at her funeral on March 20/09.
Every time I hear it.....no matter where I am, or who I'm with...I just lose it and break down crying.

I love that song! I was an only child and was lost as well, and at the end "I love you momma" "Wind Beneath My Wings" by,Bette Midler Mom truely WAS the wind beneath my wings. And especially "You Raise ME UP" by Josh Grobin, I played this at her service. Mom kept telling me that when it rained it would be her kisses on me, not a cloud in the sky, and just as the song finished it began to sprinkle - just for a few seconds then stopped. That was my momma kissing me.

The line from the Counting Crows song 'A Long December' that goes "the smell of hospitals in winter" always gets me. I have a hard time listening to 'Afterglow' by Inxs.

"Look at Us" by Vince Gill, I can't listen to it without just breaking down and crying. Another one is "You Are Always on My Mind" by Willie Nelson. Both make my heart break over and over again thinking about what a wonderful man I've lost.

I heard a song by Brad Paisley on my way home from the hospital called "The Man He Did Not Have To Be." My mom actually compiled a list of special songs and played it in loop at the wake. Now we have that CD forever. The songs my sister and brother chose are just as important to me now.

I'm terribly sorry about your loss. stay strong...I know it is hard to do.

my husband who passed away on 9/16 used to play for me
"Brown Eyed Girl", "Have I told you lately that I love you" and "my Girl".. And, he used to dance with me.

I cannot imagine he is gone. I'm grieving so badly and having hard time believing it. I listen to those songs and my tears are not stoppable. I cry day and nights...I wish if I can do any thing to bring him back.. my soul mate left me in misery.

My son died Mar. 6 09 at 29 yrs. old....when he was three he would take my face in his little chubby hands and sing..."You are so beautiful to me......" by Joe Cocker....and more recently since he passed, a new song called "On The Other Side" by Dailey and Vincent....absolutely beautiful.

"I hope you dance" because my son loved to live life and lived it to the fullest. It is on his web site and it makes me so proud of him because he was so full of love and joy.
